WOW!! I'm so glad this guy is getting some well deserved recognition on this list. I didn't think anyone knew about Hydrant records, so I just kept my mouth shut about Proem. Go get this cd immediately!! He has a really nice combination of melodic sounds with darker atmospheres and beats. A must for fans of Autechre and the more industrial side of IDM. Another surprise is that this guy is from Texas! That's right, believe it or not, Houston is kind of turning into a miniature Sheffield these days. Three other artists are making waves down here by the names of: Mr. Harten, Otto Hive, and the Western Lands. You can check them out on the Emerge Compilation put out by 1216 records out of California. --n i c k On Mon, 28 Jun 1999 09:13:16 -0300 Andrew Duke Cognition/In The Mix <cognition@globalserve.net> writes:

actually....i really wouldnt hesitate to cast this vote either. that proem disc makes me feel damned good. but ive got to disagree about anything dark and industrial on this disc....for me it was nothing but warm colorful melodies. id guess it would appeal foremostly to fans of global goon, beep street on hard normal daddy ([]pShR), and gimmick.....lots of cute colorful humor. people see things in different ways tho. thats what makes them interesting....anyway. proem rox the house.....just wanted to give whoever made this disc mad props for making me smile a whole lot. :) go get proem. really. other recent recommendations: the new fizzarum on city centre bogdan - samurai math beats the new plaid of course the bjork all is full of love 12"s are really good too....check out that plaid mix. isan - digitalis :)))))
