A quest for new music: I've got Elph Vs. Coil 'Worship the Glitch', 'Time Machines' and 'Gold is the metal..' and I really like the first two - 'Gold..' is nice too but I really like the drones of the first two. Anyone got any suggestions for what to get next? Unnatural History perhaps? What about that Time Machines boxset - it that out now? Cheers Giles

_unnatural history 2_ would best suit you. it's got the hellraiser tracks on it, plus its largely ambient. i'd also say _how to destroy angels_. and the balck light district album, _a thousand lights in a darkened room_, is amazing along those lines.

Yes. i am here I couldn't possibly suggest what to listen too.we havn't done the 5 CD boxset yet. I was going to ask Terence mcKenna to write the sleeve notes with me but as some of you may have heard he is seriously ill with a brain tumour and it's touch and go.But we will do it. There are a lot of drone-like sections on our new CD Musick To Play In The Dark. see http:// Brainwashed.com/coil for details. we are very pleased with it. For my own listening drones I am listening to a CDR of the double Japanese bootleg of LaMonte Young borrowed off David tibet and originally from the collection of Christoph Heeman. all the beast Balance

Hmm, that LaMonte Young would be nice to find compiled somewhere. I just have a 6 min excerpt from that "classic" long Young peice "Drift Study" (I think it is) from the "Fluxus" record that came out in '89 or so. Check the discography info: http://www.virtulink.com/mela/lmy.htm He recently did an installation with someone that is light&sound I think. John, thanks for putting out vinyl versions of Coil releases over the years! Not to put you on the spot but, I'm curious: with the list, would you be wililng to share your thoughts about MP3's and how they are used for bootlegging, making out-of-print music available, etc uses..? Do you see Coil ever using the format for releasing music? I ask because you are talking about releasing a 5-cd boxset and mp3 formatting would be a neat way to buy this on a single cdrom. Solenoid

"How To Destroy Angels" is very droney. I like it. Just watch out for "Tectonic Plates," always surprises and scares the shit out of me. (It's a lot of banging in the middle of drones.)

any of the elph related stuff thats floating about (there is a 10", some tracks on the protection cd which -- some same as the 10", and some comp appearances). there's some stuff on love's secret domain ('chaostrophy' is up there with my fave 'drone/ambient/noise' pieces ever!) and stolen and contaminated songs. the remixes of 'how to destroy angels' are amazingly droney. but most of all: black light district!!!!!!! then there is some of the new solstice releases -- some drones pop up there as well. and you may also wish to check out nurse with wound's sililoquy for lilith. the box set is not out yet (as far as i know :) hope this helps. chris. music, four lunchpails: wednesdays 7-9pm kuci 88.9fm www.kuci.org _chicks dig laptops_

Well, I'm not John Balance, but they do have that song of the week at the brainwashed site. MP3s of unreleased tracks. For free. Nicest thing i've ever heard of anyone do with music short of Kumquat's CDs (now free Coil CDs with unreleased tracks... that would be something). _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu University of Idaho / Moscow / ID / USA Visit my Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings fan site: http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "Because success needs killing" TRICKY
