(has there been any real evidence?), and it seems to me strange that they'd lurk fairly quietly before leaving in public disgust over what seemed a rather minor matter. << Right, it would seem a bit overly sensitive - I mean, geez, welcome to the Internet, fellas - but then again who wants to disappear up one own's arse? Maybe each one could disappear up the other one's arse. What about this possibility: the original post was indeed from autechre, but they *did not* sign off the list as indicated, and instead continue to lurk in order to monitor the inevitable controversy (and chuckle with satisfaction). I would like to think that this was true...I'd have more respect for them if this was true (and if they were just "taking the piss" with the whole deal in order to toy with us all). It amounts to a great PR stunt as far as the 1000 IDM people go...man, all this talk of autechre (good or bad, doesn't matter, it builds excitement) made me reach for my copy of amber...except I can't find it right now. Of course, I could easily remain with the original camp that doubts the original "aye dee em" post's authenticity. Remember when "Hulk Hogan" was on the list? I really have my doubts that this was the well-known wrestler. Who would like to divulge their *sources* on the authenticity of the original post? <<and most people understand the "message" implicit in an unanswered e-mail.>> And what is the message when nobody continues a suggested thread? a. uh, whatever, dude b. right on! your post was so dead accurate, no further comments are necessary c. wot? I've always hoped it was <b> when my threads went nowhere. - Fred Church bigkumquat@aol.com np: occasional sound of pen scratching on cardboard kumquat cd mailers (all cd's have been or will be mailed this week to those who have e-mailed so far) free postage-paid kumquat cd's still available! just send e-mail if you want one...check http://www.thelocus.com/kumquat for details and mp3's

The address allegedly belonging to Ae is no longer on idm or idm-digest. C.

To start with, I'm devoted Ae fan. All they have done I loved sooned or later. I didn't listen to EP7 yet but it is on its way to me. When poeple talk about new album saying its better than previous one but worse than the first one, etc. it is normal and there is use in it as those who aren't that crazy about Ae and not much familiar with their work may choose what to buy. But when someone tells that Ae's manners aren't good enough, Ae should listen to their fans, Ae should think of changing style, Ae should choose new sound processing units, etc. - it is nothing but a pile of spoken crap. All those wannabe critics should crarify something in their head: Ae were, are and hopefully will be renown mostly for their inovative style in music, they are loved by many (including me) for the changes they brought with every new year (just compare 94, 95, 97, 98 and you'll notice if not growth but changes definetely) and what do you think helps them to act so - only the fact that they do not listen to what anybody says about their music. That is why I prefer not even to read their interviews - they have nothing to say to me - I listen to their music - their music is their real interpretation in this world. If you try to say: they should change this and they should go there - it's like as if you would tell the sun to shine only when you what it to shine and in the way you want it to. Sun is doing what it should do and Ae are doing what they should do - write music. The less fan dependant they are the less pop like music they make. If you like artists to comply with fans requests then listen to Madonna or Spice girls, it would make you happy they're making what masses want. I realise that it sounds as continuation of TJ thread on his latest music twists but it seems that everyone on this list has to say something to Ae. Come on. Would you tell Mozart to change his style or he would loose fans? Leave them be and enjoy their music. If not, forget about them and put Amber under your pillow. This was MHO. np.
