I have them as Japanese imports ( $24? ). I bought them in NYC. Probably still in print in some fashion. Maybe the mail order and distributor types on this list know more details? Vat? David H? skimo? Lance? you usually have answers * to every discography question in the world*! Anyways, Harmonia: Harmonia is as essential to a "roots of idm" collection as *any* detroit, Kraftwerk, acid or any oldie- Amazing *driving* feeling moving music. The vinyl, in case you so desire and when you can ever find it, runs $30-65 for early Brain material, depending on the variants. Also, Anyone know if its possible to filter email adresses from incoming list *digests*? Just wondering... Also, re: Sean's post concerning buying label identity over label content: I too agree with the first responders comment that this type of consumer tactic can be applied to *many* labels in *many* genres. I think you are right by saying that certain folks buy up releases and keep them *even if the music sucks* merely because they're on ________label. I also think this isn't merely a SKAM phenomenon, as some people indeed * do* love many labels entire catalogs. I have yet to find a %100 *perfect* label though, personally. Pork is perfect! The even save you most of the trouble cos most of their 12" tracks are available on the album. (shameless plug for my favorite label. Check the site in my URL.) Asphodel is pretty close too, though i haven't heard all their stuff. And of course YMMV. _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu Augsburg College / Minneapolis / MN / USA Visit my Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings fan site: http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "The only disease we need in our blood is love" TRICKY

I get a lot of enjoyment out of Skint and Hardkiss/Sunburn, but I imagine that's a bit too DDM for the list at large.

Not sure about the logistics of hosting just about anything you deem 'listworthy' on yr personal website. You must some some real nice/liberal ISP. Check w/the feds first man, avoid any & all strife...

Oh yeah, VERY in print. Japan only, $24 sounds right. Incidentally the Germanofon versions are total shite, mastered from POOR vinyl copies. I had the Germanafon 'Music Von', it actually skips rather audibly in a few places & sounds generally ass. Japanes ones are legit (Polydor) master tape reishes, 20 bit I believe. Sound very full-of-life... Check Bent Crayon or Forced Exposure, I doubt PJ will dig this deep into seminal back catalogue...

They're definitely in my top 5 ever of Kraut/Psych records. Harmonia was Moebius/Roedelius (Cluster) w/Rother (Neu). Perfect mix of Cluster's synth vocabulary & Neu's beat. And some nice phased/fuzzed guitar bits to boot. "Music Von Harmonia", album #1: clearly the best. Ultimate bliss out, etc... Essential. -Våt ____________________ Reckankreuzungsklankewerkzeuge PO BOX 382864. Cambridge, MA 02238 http://www.tiac.net/users/sheket/index.html

Hrrm. There was also a legit Brain issue on CD (in the early/mid 90s back when they actually did this kind of thing- I think Guru Guru's _Kanguru_ was the only other title of interest that made it out this way). It was about $16 (look for the "Special Low Price" sticker), appeared to be from master tapes and used to be available from FE a long time ago. I also heard that there was a super budget line issue of the first Faust on a German label whose product was typically displayed in the check-out lines of supermarkets.

Agreed that _Deluxe_ was kind of a let down. I don't know if MVH would make my top five of that "scene" (which would most likely be populated with boring unDM records like _Yeti_, _Malesch_ et al), though Cluster _II_ probably would. One could (if fed a lot of drugs) make a claim that _II_ was an attempt to do IDM using guitars and non-sequencer electronics. Surely there are few better things in the world than the languid unfolding phasing of "Fur Immer" (only a disappointing 14 minutes long, goddamn it- "This is the most blatant case of false advertising since my lawsuit against _The Neverending Story_"...). (One and a half months late, sorry), -rob
