it's a japanese import on idyllic records, released 1995. 1) searching for love (roni size remix) 2) for tomorrow (out-of-phase mix by reflection) 3) crescent (cold cut remix) 4) the lake of winter (wagon christ mix) 5) reflect tomorrow (remixed by reflection, re-remixed by nobukazu takemura 6) let my fish loose (aphex twin mix) 7) crescent (mad's trippy remix (the mad professor)) 8) crescent (ninja logical remix (coldcut)) The roni size remixis a great jungle tune, one of the few with a vocal that doesn't suck (and I hate vocals). Wagon christ delivers a sophisticated, smoky, bass-heavy mellow trip. Coldcut....ah, coldcut. And the aphex twin mix: that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard. Almost too weird for me, and I adore weirdness and RDJ. I've never heard an original Takemura song except for the one from Royalties Overdue (mo' wax), but I'm very impressed. I listen to this more than the Nav Katze remix album. -- kevin babies@usa.pipeline.com

I can give you one word as to why no one has talked much about it: PRICE. (I was interested in it when I saw it on new release lists, but that $32 price tag made me change my mind. Yep, he also has a remix on the new Coldcut (Japanese edition) and was an original member of Audio Sports (Japanese hip hop group featuring EYE of the Boredoms rapping!). After picking up the _Me Shape_ cd the other day, I can't help but be disappointed by it. Having not heard all of his output I have no idea what direction this is in, but the composition dates are from late '95 to late '97. Is this truly "just" fill for live performances as noted in the packaging, or is good ole Simon having a laugh at literal interpreters like myself? Anyway, highly disappointing after a couple listens. Hopefully just a hard nut to crack. And why does everywhere I attempted to order it from list a different price? Some places $9.95, some $14.95, some $19.95. Can't be that much mark up on an import full-length ... Is this out yet? I've seen no evidence of it's existense or even a definite release date or title. _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu Augsburg College / Minneapolis / MN / USA Visit my Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings fan site: http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "The only disease we need in our blood is love" TRICKY

Just picked up Child's View (Nobukazu Takemura) "Funfair" album yesterday. This is pretty cool. I never knew incessant clicking and beeping could rock. He's definitely one producer i'll be watching for the next millennium. Went to the Website for the label (bubble core), and found out that he's also done a remix of the Dylan Group (who cover him on his own album). So now his discography (AFAIK) is: Albums: Nobukazu Takemura "DJ Takemura" To Be Released, Thrill Jockey US Child's View "Funfair" Bubble Core US Nobukazu Takemura "Child's View Remix" Label? Japan, Label? Germany Nobukazu Takemura "Child's View" Label? Japan Nobukazu Takemura "Child and Magic" Label? Japan? Singles: Nobukazu Takemura "Crescent" Label? Country? Nobukazu Takemura "Meteor" Label? Country? DJ Takemura "For Tomorrow" Label? Germany Collaborations: Jansen/Barbieri/Takemura "Changing Hands" Label? UK? Remixes: Coldcut "Noah's Toilet" Ninjatune UK United Future Organization "Sixth Sense" Brownswood Japan Roni Size "Brown Paper Bag" Mercury US/UK Sixty Feet Dolls "White Knickle Ride" Label? UK Dylan Group "??" Bubble Core US Is there anything else? Does anyone have a decent discography online anywhere, or do i have to do it like i did for Fila B? _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu Augsburg College / Minneapolis / MN / USA Visit my Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings fan site: http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "The only disease we need in our blood is love" TRICKY

there are two versions of this. One from the UK and one from Japan. The mixes and tracklistings are somewhat different I beleive. I do not have the Japanease version, here is the UK version info: label: Medium productions Catalogue No. MPCD6 Release Date: General Realease March 9th 1998 Available to Medium Subscribers Late December '97 for more info: http://www.demon.co.uk/medium-prod/ChangingHands.html I think the Japanease label is Flavour of sound ltd (but I cannot be certain). -daniel Head Monkey Mad Monkey Records http://monkey.eliteware.co

I believe he also had a track or two on the Lollop compilation, which is one of his own (now defunct?) labels, along with Idyllic. His first album + the remix album were on Idyllic. --- Robert Robichaud E-Mail: rbichaud@ptialaska.net

I was really excited about it when I first got it. there's a couple of very abstract electronic compositions that are quite striking and different from anything else he's done (that I've heard). since then I've checked out some of his other recordings and find 'Scope' kind of hit and miss by comparison. There's an Oval-sounding track. There's one of his fake Steve Reich pieces, but it's not as strong as the ones on Child's View or Child and Magic. There's a so-so meandering sampled-woodwind fantasy. Then I noticed that the liner notes mention that the pieces on Scope are from 96, 97 and 98. I deduce that Scope is a buncha tracks that have been laying around. It's not bad stuff, but "Child and Magic" is just so incredibly strong, and really holds together as a piece despite considerable variety. I keep coming back to it and continue to discover new things. I'm hoping he comes through with another sustained effort like that... kurt
