Okay, apologies to be made. I guess i passed too much judgement on 4 hero based on my opinion that Two Pages is pretty lame. But i've finally gotten around to listening to Parallel Universe, and though it's not all that i want from a dnb album, it's pretty damn good, especially considering that it came out in the same year (is that right?) as Goldie's Timeless, which is even more painful than Two Pages. While i'm not quite yet a convert, at least they get my respect for their backcatalog now. _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu Augsburg College / Minneapolis / MN / USA Visit my Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings fan site: http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "The only disease we need in our blood is love" TRICKY

It was released a full year before Timeless.

Of course, 4 Hero produced two tracks on Timeless, and those two tracks ("Still Life" and "Angel") could be on Parallel Universe and you wouldn't know the difference. But don't let that get in the way of slagging quality records. C. -- Chris.Hilker (cspot@hyperreal.org)

I'm curious what is 'painful' about 2 pages? Is it because M+D collaborated with more conventional musicians? That there is singing on the disc? peace Nate On Sun, 9 May 1999, Moonlight wrote:

No where else have i heard hardcore/breakbeat/jungle meshed with deep house vibes to such a stunningly beautiful effect. Well, on second thought hmm- i guess A Guy Called Gerald comes close at times. Even Playing For The City is good in this regard (based on just hearing two 12"s by them- anyone have a discog for Playing?) ive not heard 4heros- 2 pages, mainly due to the word of mouth that its nothing like Parallel Universe/it sucks :( Anyhow, I would love to check out any suggestions that mix this deep house vibe with breakbeat jungle intricasy, ala Paralle Universe...! -Thad on now- Various Artists: Decay Product ----------------------- Headers -------------------------------- Return-Path: <idm-owner-RBigger590=aol.com@hyperreal.org> Received: from rly-zd05.mx.aol.com (rly-zd05.mail.aol.com [172.31.33.229]) by air-zd04.mail.aol.com (v59.4) with SMTP; Sun, 09 May 1999 22:59:23 -0400 Received: from hyperreal.org (taz.hyperreal.org [209.133.83.16]) by rly-zd05.mx.aol.com (8.8.8/8.8.5/AOL-4.0.0) with SMTP id WAA08530 for <RBigger590@aol.com>; Sun, 9 May 1999 22:59:21 -0400 (EDT) Received: (qmail 18036 invoked by uid 6000); 10 May 1999 02:59:14 -0000 Received: (qmail 18028 invoked from network); 10 May 1999 02:59:13 -0000 Received: from roland.augsburg.edu (141.224.64.1) by taz.hyperreal.org with SMTP; 10 May 1999 02:59:13 -0000 Received: from Moonbeam.augsburg.edu (138-59.campus.augsburg.edu [141.224.138.59]) by roland.augsburg.edu (8.8.7/8.8.7) with SMTP id VAA14752 for <idm@hyperreal.org>; Sun, 9 May 1999 21:59:09 -0500 (CDT) Message-Id: <3.0.5.32.19990509215704.008c2740@augsburg.edu> X-Sender: roesch@augsburg.edu X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Light Version 3.0.5 (32) Date: Sun, 09 May 1999 21:57:04 -0500 To: idm@hyperreal.org From: Moonlight <roesch@augsburg.edu> Subject: (idm) 4Hero "Parallel Universe" Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Sender: idm-owner@hyperreal.org Precedence: bulk >>

2 pages is just not what I like about music, though the hype forced me to listen to it many times to see if there was anything i was missing. I have nothing against conventional musicians, vocals. Hell, i like those things. It may have something to do withthe fact that i have the edited US version (where almost all the tracks from the 2CD uk version are cut to fit on the 1CD US version). The light songs are too light, overly pleasant (i called them New Agey before, but someone didn't like that). Still, I don't see much difference between the light half of the album and a Goldie/John Tesh Collab, except that that would have mroe interesting beats. Basically, the album hits me in the same place as Timeless, which i understand to be one big waste of time. (To me.) And Two Pages' hard dancefloor songs (what? all three?) are just boring for jungle. _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu Augsburg College / Minneapolis / MN / USA Visit my Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings fan site: http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "The only disease we need in our blood is love" TRICKY
