the latest hardwax list describes the new Mouse On Mars single as "superb tricky and freestyling organic sounding electronica ," which gets me excited, but then says "w/ a jungle approach," which doesn't. can somebody give me a sense of the accuracy of that description? i don't know how far to believe hardwax, especially since they TIP!'d the almost-entirely-without-merit push button objects ep on skam. thanks, sc

one of the more fun and facinating releases i have heard in a while.. and i just figured out (im slow) that the inlay cards/graphics go together to form quite the impressive image. packaging wise this is the shit! wish more releases would come with such god artwork.. the pure release ('the end of vinyl') on mego is quite good as well.. minimal sounds made from the runout grooves of vinyl (i *think* in a different way than what mr brinkmann does.. but who knows?). its very cute and only 3"s. :) wee! chris. _chicks dig laptops_ music, four lunchpails: wednesdays 7-8pm kuci 88.9fm www.kuci.org bz.bbq saturday 5.8 noon-8ish

Yes, another piece of the Tina Frank/Chicks on Speed puzzle. She does some good work, and is IMHO completely under-rated. (not that tDR don't get th' job done right... Funkstorung "add'l prod." anyone?)

This description isn't at all bad actually. I think it's a great record. The last few releases from MoM and Lithops have been towards the abstract intricate soundscapes with a lot of nice squelchiness but not all that rhythmic. This one sounds like a return to the sound of 'Autoditacker' in complexity and tempo but with some of the more experimental leanings of their previous Sonig releases. Summary: the new 12" is no more d'n'b than parts of 'autoditacker' so if you liked that, you'll probably enjoy this. Does anyone else think that maybe the last few Sonig releases have been MoM releasing stuff that Too Pure wouldn't put out and that only now are we beginning to see the stuff that was made since 'autoditacker'? I mean, 'Glim', which is the final track on the 'Glam' LP is also the final track on 'cache coeur naif'. 'Cache coeur naif' preceeded 'autoditacker' so maybe 'Glam' is from the same period. 'Instrumentals' and 'uni umit' are probably even older. But who cares? Nick p.s. The MoM remix of Pram is a bit disappointing.
