I'm a big fan of Isan's sound which ranges from droney electronica to more melodic idmish tracks. At times you can hear autechre/funkstroung influences whereas other times you hear hints of EAR, Labradford, and maybe even Spiritualized. Here is the Forced Exposure writeup on their Beautronics cd: "The debut album release from future retro noodlers ISAN [who are supposedly now signed to Warp for their future releases]. The titles resemble an audio paint chart, and the duo have produced a subliminally funky, organically gorgeous and occasionally disturbing slab of electronica. Together with the likes of Plone, Add N To X and Warp Records, they are pioneering the future sound of retro electronic ambient music. ISAN (pronounced 'eye ess ay en') is Robin Saville and Anthony Ryan. Their use of cheap analogue equipment was initially a financial necessity but has since become a restriction that they choose to enjoy. Several sources have compared the ISAN sound to the kind of music from obscure children's programs you saw on sick days off from school." -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
