Recorenews, vol 3... ------------------------------------------ Matador continues with their electronic music barage with the first release from their new signing: . Khan: 1-900-Get-Khan cd/2x12" (Matador) The full-length debut from Khan (aka Can Oral), a Turkish/German New Yorker whose prior works under the names 4E, GLOBAL ELECTRONIC NETWORK, H.E.A.D., BIZZ OD, GIZZ TV and collaborations with DR. WALKER have established him as a worldwide force in electronic music. This new effort functions as an imaginary soundtrack through a world of sex, sleaze and spooky goings-on. Blends of minimal techno, exotica, neo-etherea, retro-futurism and other stuff. Guest vocals on two tracks by Julee Cruise. ------------------------------------------ Volume Two of the excellent experimental electronica compilation Deutcher Funk will be released on June 8th on the Caipirinha label. Many if not all of the tracks on this comp are said to be exclusive. The tracklisting is: 1. Jazzanova: caravelle 2. Subtletease: overlookingis 3. Lame Gold: heartbreak hotel 4. Tarwater: no more extra time 5. Sad Rockets: e.j. 6. Felix Kubin: bruder luzifer 7. Wunder: noitz's kakao 8. Lithops: chubmond 9. H Sack Ziegler & F Schueltge Blumm: toygrooves 10. Naturalist: 12 11. Flanger: music to begin with 2 12. Hematic Sunsets: gaude mihi 13. Holosud: alaune ------------------------------------------ The newest release from the Minus label is a four tracker called 'Orange' on which Richie Hawtin does his modern reinterprations of the 80's Yello classic 'Oh Yeah.' Should be out next week. ------------------------------------------ More Telex remixes... Hot on the footsteps of the first volume, and of the slammin' Carl Craig/Jay Denham remix 12", SSR is releasing a second album full of choice cuts from the catalogue of legendary Belgian electro-disco-pop icons from the early 80's, reworked by a host of top producers. It's a combination of driving club tracks (the Stacey Pullen, Ian Pooley, DJ D, Maurice Fulton, Eddie Flashin' Fowlkes and T-Power mixes) and of electro- pop tracks (Buckfunk 3000, The Tellurians [Rainy City], Pulsinger/Tunakan), while some of them even stay close to a classic pop song structure (Morgan Geist, Juan Atkins, Seven Dub). Listen to several of the mixes yourself at: http://www.crammed.be/ssr/ssr06.htm#telex ------------------------------------------ New from the Lucky Kitchen... . Family Audio comp 8" (Lucky Kitchen/LK004) Lucky Kitchen asked some of their friends to record the sounds of their families, then compiled their favorite tracks on an 8" lathe cut vinyl record hand made by Peter King in New Zealand. The packaging is hand cut, and the credits are handwritten by Lucky Kitchen and they look and sound beautiful. Includes V/VM, Drew Daniel (from Matmos), Todd Carter (Aeroespace Soundwise), Alejandra Salinas, Aeron Bergman (Underwood), Daniel Raffel (Suetsu), Michael Hartman (from T.V. Pow). "…nine documentary recordings from around the globe, based in domestic settings and recorded at various fidelities. An intimate series of snapshots reveals family lives, relationships, rituals and tensions. ------------------------------------------ After solid split 7"s from Jega/808 State and Stock Hausen & Walkman/Surgeon, the next in the Small Sluts label series of 7"s will feature a Two Lone Swordsmen/Dakota Oat Trio split ep. Due to be released in May. ------------------------------------------ Plod news. After that there is a solvent/lowfish split 7". ------------------------------------------ ISAN news. Quite a bit of new Isan related material coming out in the next few months. A 7-track minialbum called Digitalis will be released on liquefaction empire on June 7. What?! Is this the same Julee Cruise that did the songs on Twin Peaks and was touring with the B-52's?

I believe it is the same one. Khan likes to throw bizarre twists in his music and the addition of Julee Cruise on several tracks definitely qualifies for that! : ) -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
