Okay, not IDM, i apologize. (Perhaps Daft Punk is a close enough connection. And I'm sure "Music sound better with you" was discussed here when it came out.) Does anyone know if Stardust has plans for an album, or if it'll just be that single? Thanks. _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu Augsburg College / Minneapolis / MN / USA http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/ Newly reworked Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings site http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "The only disease we need in our blood is love" TRICKY

As far as I know, there's no album planned.... Stardust was a one-off project by Thomas Bangalter one-half of Daft Punk. It was originally released as a 1-sided 12" on his own label, Roule. There was a 2x12" of remixed released a while ago, but I never picked it up. Thomas Bangalter has done a number of other solo records on Roule, like the two Trax on the Rocks 12"'s, and Spinal Scratch (never heard that one).... along with remixes of Roy Davis Jr. and Vertigo on Roule. It's all great stuff..... Also, there's a nice Thomas Bangalter remix of another clubby house track with Jane Fonda samples called "Gym and Tonic" on Bob Sinclar's full-length album, "Paradise." The original was (I believe) a collaboration between Bob Sinclar and Thomas Bangalter released using the name "Spacedust" on Warner UK.... coincidence? And who says this isn't IDM related? I know Colongib is a closet Stardust fan.... :) Aaron

Actually I think it got very few reviews on this list, if I remember correctly.

I think both Alan Braxe and Thomas Bangalter have done way better stuff then Stardust. Alan Braxe should do more singles, Vertigo was really cool! _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com

From an interview I read in Muzik or somewhere else, it said that it was just Thomas Bangalter and was never intended for release. The samples weren't cleared and Bob Sinclair took credit for it. Not that great of a track anyway.

But on the vinyl the track has remix credits given to Bangalter. Never saw a single for it other than the Spacedust 12", but that had no information on it whatsoever, other than a pair of nice gams on the cover..... Aaron p.s. Before I get in trouble for this, I don't think Colongib has even heard Stardust before, nor would he want to.... :) Not quite his cup.

I think he is a real person. The stuff I have heard from him was pretty weak and didn't have TB's style.

It's pretty decent. It gets a little repetitive if you don't mix it. It's not one of those records you want to listen to in it's entirety. I heard Claude Young use to play doubles of it and it sounded great!

I think it's pretty catchy. It's either too long or doesn't change up enough for me to want to listen to it very often. I like Club Soda better _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com

1) Bob Sinclar IS a real person, although his name is not Bob Sinclar. He is Chris The French Kiss, who runs the Yellow Productions label. 2) There will be no Stardust album. pw In a message dated 4/26/99 4:11:08 AM, MuUuAaAaHh@aol.com writes: <<bob sinclair isnt a real person...bob sinclair is a thomas bangalther and someone else from what i read in urb....<ducks from all criticism of readin that mag..hahah>... spinal scratch is okay....not bangalther's best work by any means....i have it on mp3s and dont listen often cuz it reeks of shite....hehehe....i dont like it even tho i like daft punk....it sounds like daft punk but without the catchiness...it doesnt really have anything that stands out about it....<shrugs>filler music for a house set i guess...? peace lauryn>>
