hi. a few things: 1. anyone heard of this? any comments? SANDRA SEYMOUR & ANA BUSTO Night Fights: A Boxing Soundscape CD The wild, wonderful and weird world of boxing! Various boxing sounds (speed bag, heavy bag, sparring, fight night, ring announcers, rowdy crowds) collected and assembled into a surprisingly entertaining soundscape. Spanish import. 2. saw mouse on mars/icu/languis last night; in brief: languis - saw the second part of the set.. good stuff, though the live drummer with electronic music is not my thing -- from what people told me i would have really enjoyed the first part. next time i spose. icu - in their defence they were down a member and the sound was poorly mixed. still doesnt change the fact that i didnt like it at all. fans of the whole darla thing might have enjoyed it more than i did -- but im not too into the whole indie-rock gone electronic sound. mouse on mars - the first song (the sofist track, the opener, off the new album) was REALLY REALLY good. didnt care for the rest of the show, but i think that was more my fault/attitude/mood last night. mouse on mars rocked my little acid heart when i saw them open for stereolab (especially the encore collaboration with members of stereolab and high llamas) and i think i was expecting them to do the same this time too. ahh well, i just hope indie rock isnt too too contagious these days.. but a lot of folks at the show seemed to have gotten something i didnt :) must be in the air. please, no more overt rock n roll drum kits in electronic music ! (yeah, yeah, yeah -- im not feeling open about this whole thing and am somewhat of a hypocrite considering im such a jim o'rourke fan.. but whatever, i find the rock-electronic hybrid to be dull most of the time). and i also know i am in the minority -- many friends of mine were talking about how fantastic mouse on mars were last night.. wish i could agree. next stop: phoenecia in so-cal on saturday! chris it.s ok to like noise it.s okay to like house it.s okay to like pop "nothing but respect to hello kitty" _we are all lost --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
