It's intentionally crapy production (prob like recent squarepusher). Read the liner notes. _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu Augsburg College / Minneapolis / MN / USA http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/ Newly reworked Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings site http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "The only disease we need in our blood is love" TRICKY

for whatever reason, they put no liners in the promo versions of the record, so I've never seen what people are referring to. --- the humble abbott arthur purvis set his hand hereto

Wow, you're missing out. ?uestlove wrote the most extensive (and entertaining) liner notes I have seen in any non-rerelease album. He goes on about all the ideas going into every track. Referring to the song that inspired "Table of Contents. Part 1": "The structure was chaotic, sloppy, and all over the place. It was pure perfection." _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu Augsburg College / Minneapolis / MN / USA http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/ Newly reworked Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings site http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "The only disease we need in our blood is love" TRICKY

I agree. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that ?uest is the most articulate fella in the hip hop scene today. Read his 'review' of the new nas record (up somewhere at okayplayer.com) to see what i mean, it's not really much of a review, but a deep analysis of the transformation from illmatic-era Nasty Nas to todays hip pop Nas Escobar.. and Arthur, try and get a hold of the linear notes, excellent read. oh, um... IDM topic- Got the new Push Button Objects (skam) 12"s today, and i have to say-- what the hell happened to Edgar Farinas?!?.. The PBO 12" on Schematics could be one of my top 5 IDM records EVER. Such a s[l]ick combination of hip hop and IDM. It wasn't trip hop (ie: chilled out insturmental hip hop), it was an amazing cross breed of two previously loosely related genres. The Chocolate Industries release was a serious fall off, like weak hip hop beats with Funkstorung melodies on top, but people said that the tracks were older, so i figured it was just a one time thing. Then came the track on the OM comp, and i began to get worried. Now on the Skam 12" it seems he's got himself self-pigeonholed! This a typical skam record. I might as well listen to jega.. 'Twisted' and 'The Hammock' are okay, but the rest of it, bleah. Maybe i just have high expectations..that said, the new Lexanucupult (orange) is very good, kinda more what i was expecting from the PBO, beat wise. 'My Peach And My Pear' is so good. But sometimes his melodies are so just weak, inna just bang on the keys randomly style (like on track A1). Still much better than the PBO, thanks for putting it out, gonzi. later, mlT? ___ http://multsanta.home.sprynet.com/ musik aus strom, d'arcangelo, karaoke kalk, mouse on mars, schematics, choclolate ind ++
