I haven't seen any mention of this, but I want to recommend the new Rhythm & Sound 12", "Smile," featuring Savage. For those who don't know, R&S is Maurizio Von Oswald, AKA Maurizio (and perhaps another producer as well). Having listened through it a dozen or so times, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite Chain Reaction-related releases, and I'd say it's an essential purchase for anyone who digs minimal dub-techno, Berlin stylee. There's one vocal track, but the MC is really buried in the mix (hmmm... wonder if that's where the name Burial Mix came from?). All three tracks follow a minimal dub form, but not nearly so roots oriented as some of the R&S or Burial Mix releases. The first track on the b-side pulses and glows, gloriously sparse. With the volume low, it's unfortunately compressed-sounding -- but when you turn up the volume, it expands to encompass the whole room and plug your pulse straight into the rhythm. Really something.
