Ever put together a mix tape/CDR just to annoy people? Here's mine. I call it "Loving Loving You": NOTE: all are versions of The Orb's "a huge ever growing pulsating brain..." 3:11 orbital 9am radio mix 19:07 loving you 6:06 aubrey mix mk I 20:15 peel session 4:10 loving you live 7:22 aubrey mix mk II 8:19 orbital dance mix 68:30 Total running time I could listen to it all day on repeat, but most people start cracking after the 3rd or 4th run through the "high F part". :) Truly evil, I know. Anyone else do anything like this? (we'll deduct points for originality if it's all Alec Empire) Che PS most annoying tape of all time (nonIDM) - my cousin had an 8track w/ "Hey Jude" recorded on it over & over & over. An endless loop of "nanana naaaaaa". Aggghh!

I have several sets like this that I've done for my radio show or when I was subbing in for other folks. I guess my first venture into this sort of "entertainment" would have to lose originality points.. Right after Geist CD001 was released (the 3 CD set of Empire solo stuff) I ended up filling in for another DJ at my college station and played the Alec Empire Mix Show, 2 hours of nonstop Alec Empire stuff (none of which was even "riot beats!") from the set. Just me, a microphone, two CD players and one box set of Alec... I had a friend tell me he was sitting at a stoplight with the show blasting over his stereo when the pair of females parked next to him pulled out (with a red light!) and made a hasty exit after giving him nasty looks. Hee Hee. Last week I did the "Anti-Trans-Humanist" edition of my radio show, trying to illustrate why it's good to be a Luddite through the use of various grim and annoying electronic compositions (non-noise!). I started with "Windowlicker" and went through Cylob's "Rewind", Like A Tim's "Danger Everywhere", Regis "Theme From Streetwalker" as well as a couple of other grating hard techno repeat-o-traxx, a bit of Kid606, AFX's "Funny Little Man", a bit of the sloppy side of Pole, and included my "Fire Alarm Immunization Suite" which included Jamie Lidell's "jeezus.proc" from the Trash compilation. It was some of the most fun I've had doing my show in a while. What's scary is that I actually got a couple of calls. Tom

Arrrrrgh ! This is great :-) Gives me confidence for an upcoming wedding gig I'm doing this Monday... my secret weapon is pre- mixing CD-R's with anything from T. Rex to Sade to Funkadelic. Cuts down on carrying box loads of stuff around (coz I'm just a weak lil' grrl, see?!) Any tips? Just discovered that the groom is a Satsangi and spends 4 hours a day meditating... the bride seems very laid back - she heard me spinning at her brother's birthday and called me on the strength of that, which gives me some confidence to throw in the occasional IDM surprise!
