ok, here's the Saundart story...
i'm a poor student (blah blah you've heard it all before) with a bad old CDR-writer. every record i burn is done at home at the slowest speed (at 2x speed say 99% of all records get half-burned due to some error flush thing - at 1x speed only like 25% gets fucked up). anyway, i try to get as much music as possible onto every CDR (ie all albums) and for those i charge 12 USD which is the pricing i was told was common for CDR labels by an IDM listee(!) since i didn't have any clue what to charge. i think it's sort of fair to pay an amount like that for a CDR release, 'cause compared to the pricing of regular CDs at record stores this price is almost 5/8 of those prices (here in Sweden that is). and getting the stuff over to the US and the rest of the world does cost some amount of money, and to include this in the 12 USD price would be like me putting out 2$ for a CDR (swedish pricing again), 5$ for the p&p and what is left is 5$ for me, and that is not thinking of all wrecked discs due to this CDR-writer of mine. sorry but this equation doesn't really work for me as i hardly have the cash to buy the CDRs to burn and sell in the first place. i just hope this first batch of orders comes through... then we'll see what happens.
also, the Saundart stuff is limited just because i think that 100X is enough (for me, my time and my sad old CDR-writer) and i can't even imagine all copies ever being sold out.
(enough ranting for a week)
