well, with all this talk about richard james and the windowlicker vid, i
was forced (forced i say!!) to pick this up.
damn funny and damn catchy. (and only $3.99.. less than the single /
e.p. which, of course, doesn't make any sense. but that's how things
work.)
anyway, some recycled sounds from the come to daddy e.p, but solid to
say the least. nice little melodies, some quirky (but not spastic) drum
programming, and a moderate (but well controlled) amount of f.x.
processing.
the first 30 seconds of this song are just plain wicked. (not to say the
rest of the song is lame, but the intro... cool.)
chris cunningham is quite the creative fellow. as for mr. james, he's
borderline 'wacky.' (yes, i said wacky..) scary looking guy when he
wants to be. btw, is it a rule for everyone in the u.k. to have bad
teeth? just curious..
after being bombarded with aphex logos, aphex faces, hyper-kinetic dance
'scenes,' and women's asses you can't help but to laugh. (while feeling
a bit uncomfortable at the same time..) nice work. looking forward to
the 'proper' release..
oh yeah, on a completely different 'note,' the people at cubase have
always been helpful when i gave them a call. but then again, i'm
running cubase score on an atari 1040ST which simply doesn't crash.
(well, if you try really hard...) they also offered an upgrade (version
wise and platform wise..) for $100 after i send in the original disks,
manual, and dongle. yes, atari actually named their cartridge 'keys'
dongles. i have heard a lot of horror stories though. (about
steinberg...) logic has its problems as well. actually, the newest
version of cakewalk seems to be the most stable on macs and pcs. ATARI
and AMIGA. the future of the past or the past of the future.. or
something.
