Hello - Curiosity is killing me. Trying to ID a specific drum loop that's sampled to death. It's a distinctive 16th note rock-funk beat with a rather loud snare and 16th shaker, tambourine on the 2 and 4. Slight shuffle pattern. Some places it occurs: Cut to Shock: Put That Record Back On (with sample: "Do you have any drums in your house?" [see comp "Blastmaster Radio", for example] Ben Neill (from Goldbug): the first beat section of "Route Me Out" (You can hear the beat at www.cdnow.com, search for Ben Neill and record Goldbug). I suspect that this beat has been accelerated and cut for many jungle tracks as well. Here's the catch: Is this in fact the beat from "Mary, Mary" by the Monkees? With apologies, 3

Don't know if thus helps, having never heard any of the records in question, but I did a search of the Encyclopaedia Breakannica and this is what came up: More of the Monkees: (Colgems 1967) * "Mary Mary" Partner in Crime's "Mary Mary" PM Dawn's "If I Wuz You" Run-DMC's "Mary Mary" The encyclopaedia is great for those annoying sample moments. Its at: http://members.accessus.net/~xombi/intro.html It also has mp3 files for a whole bunch of different breaks. CheerioAndrewC.
