When I managed a student-run art house in Baltimore, I would be left with three 10' tall 1500W JBL 'Voice of the Theatre' speakers and a 3000W subwoofer after the films were run. At one in the morning, I'd leave, grab a bag of warm beers, come back with some friends and a deck of cards and listen to our music as loud as possible. Campus security's office was right underneath the theatre and we'd always get the odd visit from a cop or two about the 'noise.' Believe me -- you'll never hear Autechre's Envane in the same way after you hear it with a subwoofer of that power, though. Bass is essential, because you not only hear the music, but feel it, too. Bass is just one more important part of the whole experience of music, up there with reverb and lava lamps. -A. __________________________________________________________________________ Alex Reynolds Distributed Support Specialist Department of Biology School of Arts & Sciences Computing University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, PA

AMEN ! Hey, shit : it must have been fun having that system up and running after the film screenings. Whoo-hoo !!! Bass rules. (As RSW said : Women Resopond to Bass, heh...ever seen the Howard Stern movie? ) I *

re: feelin' da bass; here's how Pole (Stefan Betke) describes his music: “[it's] very basic, very empty, but the deep basslines are filling it up. You can *feel* the music, you don’t need to listen to it." Andrew :) Alex Reynolds wrote:
