three albums? I thought there was only one (in sides). Besides, didn't times fly come out after snivilisation? I thought the box was pretty good as well, and even In Sides had some nice tracks. I wouldn't be complaining so much, but you can't help but feel a little let-down when a band you really rate releases something that just doesn't do it for you at all - I mean, I had some nigh-on religious experiences seing them live. Admittedly, I seem to be in a minority - In Sides was their best selling album ever after all. Go figure.

honestly, i feel _in sides_ was easily their best. _snivilisation_ was mighty weak, 1 aged horribly, and 2 was mighty same-y. granted each album has a few amazing tracks, but the only one i put on and actually listen to the whole way through is _in sides_.

Wow! Looks like we've just realized that the enjoyment and interpretation of art is entirely subjective! Makin' progress. I think Aphex is making cooler records now than he did when he was "pushing the envelope of sound" which I never thought he did anyway. The Caustic Window compilation is just great. Thud Thud, Squelch, Arr! Humanoid must not escape! Thumpathumpathumpathumpathump. Doesn't get any better than that when you get right down to it. (uh oh... now where did I put that fireproof bodysuit?) I agree about the M (and more specifically, the DM) needing to be reset around here. Enough bother with the idiosyncrasies of the english language, crazy old film directors, and all that. Let's talk about some damn records. On that topic, does anybody know who did the "secret" track 10 on the Steve Reich remix album? Sounds like Si Begg, but I could be wrong. Tom

Is that "progress"? Certainly not obvious that the judgement of art is entirely subjective. Is there no difference between judging art and favorite ice cream flavors?

Aphex's records are now available via the BMG music club. Time for another "save the underground" revival! 3

Nothing wrong with stating personal taste, most of my posts have been just that. My point was that when long protracted arguments ensue it gets a bit wearying - you know the sort... Aphex has gone terrible now... No, he's still great... No, he's shit... etc. Next post will be something entirely positive about music - promise. Provocative posts are far too much effort.
