That's because the Microwave isn't a virtual analogue synth, it's a Wavesynth. The guy who designed the PPG Wavesynth had some input into the Microwave. It's a whole different synth altogether (no Police Squad jokes please) and it ain't trying to be a Moog modular. I see Big Briar are selling the ingeniously named 'Mooger Fooger', it's a filter designed by Bob Moog, folks. Poor old Bob - invented synthesisers, started out making huge modulars, then went to Mini-Moogs, now he's selling the *filters* from Mini-Moogs. Next he'll be selling resistors off the back of a lorry. "Coooome and get ya Moog resistors - that original Moog sound for only a meal and a cup of coffee". Jeremy.

Actually they are great instruments - especially for the electronic music world - I just recently saw a guy who performs under the name "Irwin's Conspiracy" (apparently has opened for photek). Irwin has his theremin hooked up to his sampler and was getting some great sounds out of it. As a Midi controller, it allows some excellent opportunities in expressing yourself with sound. He also had it running through an echoplex while he played on a midi drum kit. His style was essencially drum-n-bass. Conclusion - I can't wait to get a midi theremin into my rig! -- Best Regards, Gideon Marken http://www.sonicwallpaper.com --------------------------------------------

Wow :-) that's impressive. I just remember reading a big article / interview in Sound on Sound some time back. not saying it isn't an amazing instrument, just one of those "does the world really NEED this thing" objects. But needing and enjoying are quite different things, as well we know. I *
