Just picked up Thomas Brinkman's Profan in San Fransisco. I like the rythmic minimalism-abstract enough to cause thought but not to the extreme of being unappealing noise only the author can decipher. Any other opinions? Also, any web based info on Brinkman? Discog etc... Also picked up Pan Sonic, but I've seen a lot of traffic on the list generated by their work. They have such quiet music... Thanks much, David ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

The cd contains thirteen Thomas Brinkmann remixes (or variations as he likes to call them) of Mike Ink's seminole Studio One records. There were also two separate Studio 1 Variationen 12"s that each had two variations that were not on the cd (var14-17). All the Stuidio 1 - Variationen releases came out in 1997. It was my first introduction to Thomas Brinkmann and, i believe, one of his first releases. The styles of all the variations is in the ultra minimal techno/tech-house vein in a similar style to the original Studio 1 records and not unlike Brinkmann's Ernst eps. -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Karl-Michael Schneider released a cool ep last year on the Transmitter label called Piezoelectric. This ep showcased a variety of styles from experimental techno/electro to electronica to more d&b-influences. I believe he had one previous ep on transmitter as well but i dont have that one. -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Just the make it clear, I have only one ep on Transmitter, it's simply called Karl-Michael Schneider EP. Piezoelectric is the first track on it. You might also check out the unofficial Spinning Wheel Records (of which Transmitter is a sublabel) website: http://pille.phil.uni-passau.de/~schneide/sw/ The official site will (hopefully soon) be at http://www.spinningwheel.de/ Karl-Michael
