I would agree this is probably his best album. Part of my reasoning is
that there is alot of variety. In the past Surgeon was usually
compared with Mills because of his hard banging minimalism. Balance
has some of that, but it also has some really beautiful tracks like
Golden. It's a very good release. Recommended
Also try and give a listen to his track on a comp called The Process
(Caipirinia..probably misspelled).

It's called Communications. And it's pretty hard minimal. It's been a
while since I have played it so I can't really comment on tracks. It's
very much in the same minimalist direction has his early work. Very
good.
My favorite singles by him are Muggerscumout (Soma), Pet 2000
(Downwards), and Magneze (Downwards).
Most of his early stuff is pretty good. Some of the 12"s he released
after Basic Tonal Vocabulary were getting kind of strange. I remember
not really liking the singles Patience and Learning. They weren't bad,
just not what I was looking for.
I definitely think he is one to watch out for in the future, he seems
to be branching out and experimenting more with different style.
That's kind of what hoped that Cari Lekebusch and Adam Beyer would do.
I thought they were really good for a while but they seem to be in a
monotone rut.
