Think I've got the titles right, but anyway - 16B "Sounds from Another Room" LP (Eye Q?) Swayzak "Snowboarding in Argentina" LP (Pagan) Chaser "Game On!" LP (Soma) (same guys from Future Sound of Jazz comps?) How do these stack up in comparison to other quality "deep/intelligent" (for lack of a better term) house rekkids by Herbert, Ibbotson, et al. And does anyone know about an LP by Marcel (of Nuphonic patronage) called "Vigniti"? Trying to find out if this is CD only or if vinyl's available. ____________________________________ Brock Phillips - bphil@email.unc.edu WXYC 89.3 FM The New Science Experience Tune in every Sunday night 10-12 AM EST http://www.wxyc.org for live RA broadcast Promos, demos, etc. welcome for submission Email for postal address and details... ***to put it simply: quite deep and sometimes dark sounding

***to put it simply one more time (my brain is fried, sorry): very organic sounding, almost sounds like a live band at times; sometimes at a house tempo with a four on the floor kick, other times more like a funk/jazz band at a slower tempo; playable to dancers, plus quite listenable at home; swayzak is the one that got huge positive critical and commercial acclaim in 1998; chaser only came out this week so time will tell; chaser is nigel hayes (aka charley brown with toronto's austin bascombe) and lars sandberg (funk d'void). if we have to use intelligent ;) i would say the herbert and ibbotson are more so than the ones above, but it's all excellent music, so i wouldn't say the herbert style of abstract house is better than the organic ohouse of chaser or the textured house of swayzak or the darker stuff of 16b, for example. it's all house music, just different sounds. herbert and ibbotson have more of an idmey sound i suppose, but i'll cut this short now cos i'm getting wordy. i've got a marcel single remixed by chaser, but no album. sorry. hope this helps. andrew :)
