chris: the show itself is still focused on house/tech house/techno/electro, but i'm working in the idm (interviews, etc) where i can. :) it's a balancing act on the show cos some idmers who listen are like "ugh, get rid of that house music" while some of the house people who listen are like "ugh, get rid of that weird (i.e idm, i guess :)) music" even some of the electro people say "get rid of the techno" and the techno listeners say "get rid of the this or that"etc so it sure ain't easy in any way shape or form. i'm just trying to expose the music as best as i can while keeping some structure and flow :) . but i'm putting plenty of idm premieres and reviews up on the site itself to keep up the balance as best i can. might start doing the show twice a week or longer or something to try to figure out how to get all this music exposed! it's like an overwhelming thing at many points cos i could be doing new music shows 5 or 6 times a week and mayube even thien still not be caught up. oh well, doing the best i can :) at this point the s^jn premiere will be going online next week. computer willing ;) Andrew sfwd_prod wrote:

Well, I guess I'm lucky in that my listeners rarely call in (maybe I don't have any listeners??), so I don't get complaints like this too often. But I'm well aware that my tastes are MUCH more liberal than a lot of other folks, and my show reflects that. I enjoy the fact that I can start my show with Cassius, end it with Zoviet France, and play everything from Source Direct to Sly & Robbie to stuff on Underscore to Pole to whatever during the two hours in between. And even if someone out there doesn't like *everything* I play, hopefully they'll like enough of it to stay tuned... and maybe the way I link stuff up will help them appriciate something they didn't before. Or maybe I should just realize that all I'm doing is playing fucking records and CDs which is something a well-trained monkey couuld probably do. :) Greg

it seems really odd to me how people choose to categorise themselves so narrowly, someone into electro not into techno? where does juan fall into this for instance? or do the electro fans just go urghh when they hear a 4 to the floor beat and why ask for it to be removed?....im sure it cant cause them that much pain.... its not like your playing billy ray cyrus or some shit like that.... oh well...keep up the good work.... martin: believe me, i try to play across the board (from deep house to latin house to vocal house to rougher house to tech house to melodic techno to hard techno to mhs to dancefloor electro to more experimental electro to funky idm to classics from disco, freestyle, etc, etc; it frustrates the heck out of me to try to cram it all into 2 hours per week on the show cos back in 1987 i was doing a 6 hour show every week plus tons of other shows here and there, at two points was doing shows at two different stations) but you can't please everyone. i was bringing out the chicago when the bucketheads were blwoing up with "these sounds fall into my my mind (the bomb(" to try and show where the samples were from, isht like that. it's about education and entertainment too. but, yes, some people who dig electro don't want to hear the techno on the show, and vice versa. some people say "don't play all that house music"etc; especially here in halifax, i've been stereotyped as doing a "techno show" no matter what i play, which i find very strange, but that's the way it is. my opinion is, if it's good electronic music, play it :) andrwe martin wood wrote:
