Actually, I think he might (or might not) be talking about the vinyl single for Trans-europe Express that has the instrumental as the b-side. I've seen reissued copies of these along with reissued copies of the Numbers single about recently. As far as I can remember, the only label I saw mentioned was Kling-Klan. Now, if they would only reissue Tour De France.

I think I know what you're talking about. I went into a record shop here in Pittsburgh about a week ago and they had a 12" slab of Kraftwerk's numbers, released in 1997 on what seemed like Kling Klang DJ (the label). I have no more info though. kraftwerk.com turned up no additional information.... Aaron

i've got this one, it's a promo only release (with an exclusive instrumental never before released), which was also available as part of a 4x12 box set with t-shirt. the idea was probably to drum up a bit of publicity for a forthcoming new single (there were rumours going round at the time, and someone from radio one said they were going to play it, don't know if they ever did), which looks now to have been scrapped.

have never gone out of print. It kind of sucks that Computer World has been. That's the one I really want on vinyl.

Actually, Tour De France (without cover art) was reissued last year. And it was alot cheaper than what I am seeing these most recent reissues priced at. I keep seeing the Numbers and Trans Europe Express 12"s for $14.99. That seems a a little high. I think both sides of Numbers were exactly the same. It would have been nice if one was different (or more different if there are subtle changes). If they had Numbers on one side and Numbers mixed into Computerworld that would have been a little better. Or just have something unique like the version they played on tour last summer. That was a pretty cool version. Cheers _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com

Cool collectors item maybe. The new material they played live last summer wasn't that great. It sounded a little like dated Juno Reactor type of stuff. And it lacked the charm of their earlier releases. I remember hearing that they were going to tour again this summer. Has anyone heard anything about it? If it is true i hope they come to the states, instead of just a Tribal Gathering type of event. Cheers _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Hey, let's not denigrate Ralf & Florian, who set the ground work for all the music you like when Kirk Degiorgio could only reach the white keys of his Rhodes. I'd refer you to any of the boots of the latest Kraftwerk tours - The Return Of The Man-Machine is an excellent one - to re-experience the subtle new tunes (and the extension of "Airwaves"), which in the Kraftwerk style mix accessible and avant garde elements (the computer-y sequence in the 2nd one, which is as poly-rhythmic as any underground tech-house stuff). The vocoder melody in the breakdown of 1st new one in the set (the Latin-y one between "Radioactivity" and "Trans Europe") has a particular strange beauty, like the best of the European avant garde (old school that is). The set the standard for quality electronic music. But their newer songs really sounded a little too...well Juno Reactor-ish. Just because they were a pioneer and have released some great stuff doesn't mean you can compete musically after several waves of evolution in techno/electronica.

school that is). I would love to get it just to re-experience the show I saw, but it wouldn't be for the new tracks. I have a bootleg called Dentaku World and i can't remember the name of the other one. Well one cd is from '91 in Switzerland, the other was from '81 in Tokyo, both are decent quality. I would like to find some more recent boots as you mentioned. Any idea of a good place to find them?

I think they are from Germany from Kling Klang. I see them all over for around $14.99. I remember when Tour De France was issued the wholesale cost was $7.99 which is $1 or 2 more than your average import. I have no idea what the wholesale is for these. The cheapest i saw if for online was something like $12.99. Hope this helps _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
