This last week, while my car broke down just past the canadian border, i spotted something in the Hawtin estate that's sure to drive the fax-heads cranky: a fax, vinyl box set in edition of 25.. . don't ask me what's in it 'cause it was sealed, but it looked like an overview of the various facets of the label.. . yes, i'm doing this to be malicious, but don't lose too much sleep over it.. ;) BTW did you guys hear that Money Mark thing on MoWax? it sounds like an old Jackie Mittoo record, everything that the B*astie B*ys always wanted to be, but couldn't (oh! dis!).. . basement recordings of some guy with a drum machine, a drum kit, and some serious keyboard chops.. super funky and super lofi.. highly recommended.. . Also, a little promotion for a friend: the Nev album should be out "fairly", and we use that term liberally, soon.. buy it, no don't bother listening to it, just buy it.. . put it this way, the tech heads over at IRCAM in france have been flying our favorite Rodchester prodigy over to give lectures on synthesis.. . well said... o.k. enough of that.. . On now: _Crackdown_Re-Mix_ Psyche.. . nothin' like women talking in french about blood or somesuch.. . .., ........, .........., .........., ........, .., B.U.a.R.P. http://students.vassar.edu/~jahodge/BUaRP.html

Fuck yes! Good things come to those who wait. Now if only we could get Ninja Tune USA to release some Viynl... BTW, does anyone know if Mo' Wax has released Money Marks Keyboard Repair Shop or the new Dj Krush album on viynl domestically? I've been looking around and I can't seem to find them, though I did pick up a domestic of DJ Krush's 12' with the DJ Shadow remixes, which was awesome. It seems there's going to be some kind of Money Mark mini-album with tracks not released on the LP out on Grand Royal, can anyone else confirm this? I think its going to be on 10'... /""'' /"'RESH Live and Direct from the G-Spot Orange County, California, USA

The domestic vinyl version of KEYBOARD REPAIR SHOP is a 3x10" pressing on Grand Royal. This contains all the tracks on the domestic CD, which as you may know amounts to 10 more tracks than the Mo' Wax CD. Those extra ten tracks will be appearing on a separate Mo' Wax 10" release as well. (I think.) -- Mark Turner mturner@netcom.com

Speaking of Money Mark, has anyone plunked down hard cash for the Beastie Boys' latest funk excursion, _The In Sound from Way Out_? It's supposed to be an instrumental record. Dave "Do bassdrums have feelings?" dmanning@cwis.unomaha.edu............dave.manning@entex.com

It is - all the tracks are culled from their last two albums, and the singles that accompanied them, though, so unless you really dig the cover art (or hate their vocals?) it probably isn't a sound investment. C. -- cspot@hyperreal.com (Chris.Hilker)

Just to be a painful trainspotter, has anyone noticed that they've ripped the title directly off an album from the 70s? Mind you they did the same for all the other ideas on this release. :-P I can't remember who actually did the album, but it's mainly novelty covers of music from the time done on a Moog. The second release by the same people is called 'Kaleidoscopic Vibrations' and features the 3rd Man Theme, One Note Samba and Strangers in the Night. Some of the quirky percussion was sampled for a track on Wall of Sound's 'Back To Mono' compilation - I could go and check which if anyone really cares. Anyway, I mistook it for scratching until one of my friends pointed it out to me - it's a Moog doing big pitch bends. and this title has already been "ripped off" once before as the slogan for stereolab's record label duophonic ultrahigh frequency disks... mark frank on now: thompson twins, rap boy rap

Could it be Perrey & Kingsley. There is a track on the REsearch Incredibly Strange Music Volume 1 called Swan's Splashdown that is off of an album called The In Sound From Way Out! circa 1966. A sub title on the record says "Electronic Pop Music of the Future". It's messed up!
