twenty years after their landmark collaboration, einstein on the beach,
composer philip glass and director/designer robert wilson create a new
paradigm in performance with monsters of grace. this millenium crashing
theater event explores the unlimited possibilities of light, sound and
objects. rendered in wide-screen 70mm film and using the latest in 3-d
animation technology, monsters of grace features live music and a libretto
based on the spiritual poetry of the thirteenth century persian mystic,
jalaluddin rumi. performed by glass and the philip glass ensemble, the
score incorporates ancient string and percussion instruments, western
classical instruments and synthesizers, and ecstatic love songs.
