awesoma_powa@hotmail.com wonders: <but...does anyone know what the hell mannequin lung sounds like? everytime i go to the record store, their LP gets all up in my face like "buy me, muhfuh!" and i'm all like "i don't KNOW you, man." and what about solvent? hep me!> Lance's reviews are certainly in the archives but if you just read the one he posted today about the Emanated comp. you won't be too far off the sensibility of Solvent - the self-titled CD (Suction 003) juxtaposes fairly crunchy, sometimes complex rhythm/percussion action with more ethereal, melodic keyboards plus enough space-noise/sequencer junk to keep it from being too pretty (unlike Bola - hem-hem!) - it's actually a bit grittier than the Emanated stuff which means (I'm guessing from your posts) it will suit you fine. As for Mannequin Lung and "i don't KNOW" - you should KNOW Plug Research because it's hard to name an American label with a comparable track record - M. Lung are also melodic and rhythmically mesmerizing - quite repetitive, probably pretty Detroit-influenced to many ears and probably the reigning American answer to Chain Reaction ("silly, weak and tired and most of all, a stranger" - oops!).
