My favourite lift is the Postman Pat theme on Tango N'Vectif. Found a weird new Rephlex release today.. can't remember the title, but it was 60 telephone contact adverts on a CD. On some sub-label said on the shop sticker. Picked up the promo of Mark Van Hoen's 'Playing with time'.. it's not bad.. there's a huge 30 minute ambient track on the end. Some tracks are a bit like reverberated shoegazing stuff put through a 'cd skipping toss (C) CiM' machine. Not as polyrhythmic as what some blurb I read would suggest. Quite melodic in places.

Is it on Touch ? Also, does anyone know what is with Mark Clifford ? I'd really love to hear some of his new stuff... didn't hear anything from anyone of seefeel crew for a while. He is expected to contribute a track for a tribute to Christina Ricci, a CD compilation to be released with an upcoming issue of Mindfield Records' FAQT magazine. I don't think the problem is necessarily with the number of mixes. i think it's that most of the mixes are completely uncreative. The original mix is killer, emotional,crisp, etc. The best remixes either build on that (like the Autechre mix, with the ghostly vocal echo) or go off and make it weird, like the SQP mix and the Bisk mix. except for maybe one or two others, the mixes show a decided lack of creativity. " Hey, let's filter the vocals and pump the beat up on crystal meth until you can only twitch to it. Then let's let it run for 7 minutes!" Wasn't DJ Premier originally slated to be one of the remixers? That i would have liked to hear. Also, it would have been nice to have a good jungle mix, and maybe a good electro/big beat mix... Just to show the many things hip-hop has influenced. Most of the mixes show how few tricks IDM really has up its sleeve. And the Herbaliser doesn't hold a candle to any number of hip-hop producers out there. My 2x12 cents, for what they're worth. Sam
