just wanted to mention that afrika from the latest (?) 12" can be found in mp3-format on http://m-nus.com. and the other tune, hypokondriak, is on the album. unless it's another version. anyway, i didn't like either of the tracks much. substandard for hawtin. hs ______________________________________________________ our future has never been so frightening: http://www.warprecords.com/warp/ography/single/WAP105/

How very annoying, not that it is available via mp3, but that i didn't go check out the m-nus site lately. been dying to listen to that 12" but just set my stereo up. listened to a few things for the first time in months, plus a few new things... plug research shadow hunterz... am i the only one who dug this? saw no mention at all of it before except a brief mention by lance (i think) root 5x12" is god damn amazing! really couldn't believe that this didn't get any sort of vote on the polls, or at least the cd. but then, i didn't vote so who am i to complain :) brap@sonic.net icq_12645306 http://www.sonic.net/~brap/

Chris: Nope! Reviewed this and charted it at #1 in the October1998 Cognition Audioworks Electronics Report :) Sure I posted to the list when I put this online. IDM: Shadow Huntaz are two California-based rappers. The production on Shadow Huntaz' "DJ Screams Medic"/"Nut Up"" 12" on Plug Research is handled by Trash Aesthetic (aka Danny "Low Res/Crank" Zelonky and Allen "Mannequin Lung" Avanessian). Think there might be a track from it in a past In The Mix show, but you can definitely read the review on http://www.globalserve.net/~cognition For those who don't have internet access, the Electronics Report is published as the "Electric Independence" column (albeit, a shorter -- and in print, so no RA :) --version) in VICE mag (distributed monthly for free in Canada and the US). Hope this helps. Andrew

and nope again! the idm merge with hop hop is quite nice.. hope to see it more often.. this 12" is a fucking keeper! hip hop kids that i have played it for seem to love it, idm snobs seem to like it.. and, damn it, you get to hear about the adventures of a sperm who is one shot behind.. (on the sceond bus?:) really though, i rather like the hip hop/idm thing.. wu-tang/funksturong, plug research kids/shadow huntaz, east flatbush.. just please, no one put out 12 mixes of the same song again.. damn if all of the mixes on east flatbush arnt fun as hell.. but by the end, the songs start to sound tiring.. ya know ? chris.

I have to agree on this... really dig the east flatbush remixes, but wish like hell that i'd picked up the vinyl instead of the cd (especially as my turntable is back in business after a month or so!) It really does start to wear real thin at the end, not that the mixes are not good, its just you've heard that song how many times by then ? :) brap@sonic.net icq_12645306 http://www.sonic.net/~brap/

And nope a third time. Plug Research's "Shadow Huntaz" records is one of the best hip-hop tracks I've heard in a long, long time. Excellent record. In fact, just last night I got inspired and mixed a 45-minute set of hip-hop tracks, some of which have a distinctly "IDM"-ish tint to them. Tracklist includes Stevie Wonder, Anthony "Shake" Shakir, J-Majik, A Tribe Called Quest, East Flastbush Projects, Ian O'Brian, and others. Should be available soon-ish. More info to follow at that time. Cheers, Bill / dj marathon -- Sigma6 Interactive Media / http://www.sigma6.com dj marathon: "fibre" up now @ http://www.flatplastic.com/
