props or what!!!! I give Squarepusher a lot of respect. There are probably a bunch of jealous haters on this list, but I think Jenkinson is one of the most talented and prolific artists in any genre of music. -- S H A D O W D W E L L E R S clever mc-noahdeeakili-jamal amin-shep P S A L M 9 1

I believe I can go about 2 days without listening to any squarepusher... then I HAVE TO LISTEN... I think I'm addicted :) Does any one know about his recording process? What sequencer he uses? and if he has changed his technique over the years?? i read an interview where it said he wrote his 'first complete album' entirely with a boss dr550 drum machine as a sequencer....and of course his 303.... wondering what his 'first album' is though, whether they mean his spymania stuff or hard normal daddy. -sean -----Original Message----- From: gideon@catalystmedia.com <gideon@catalystmedia.com> To: idm@hyperreal.org <idm@hyperreal.org> Date: Thursday, April 06, 2000 8:30 AM Subject: Re: [idm] props to sqpusher!!

I have also heard these rumors...that 'feed me weird things' and the spymania stuff were produced with a boss drum machine as a sequencer, obviously it's hard to believe, but where ther's a will, there's away, right. My Lord it sounds tedious though. ugh! I'm not quite sure how one would would control their sampler with just a dr550, and no computer/sequencing program, but it's probably possible. anyone care to explain how to do it? anyone know if he was using a computer to sequence 'hard normal daddy'? now, since 'music is rotted..' he's definitely been using a computer although not necessarily for sequencing, but certainly for mixing and recording live to a hard disk multi-track recorder. i say definitely but i'm just basing this on what i hear -- On Thu, 6 Apr 2000 13:15:29 sean whalen wrote:

It's a little-known fact that FUSE's "Dimension Intrusion" was recorded using nothing but an old washing machine full of sneakers, a soggy cardboard box of silverware, and half-a-dozen hair dryers (the incomparable 6-voice polyphony providing the inspiration for such minimalist excursions as "Tea Kettle & Puffed Rice Cereal" and "Duet in E for Corduroy Slacks and Squeaky Loafers"). Also Black Dog's "Spanners" was sequenced using a complex array of sundials, and performed entirely on the nostril hairs of a particularly fearsome water buffalo named Albert. Albert later went on to stardom for his vocal talents on DJ Assault's ghetto bass hit "Ass n' Titties". -Ted __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? My guess is that he's probably talking about "Rumble Tum Jum, rumble 1" which I have, and sounds like it was probably made the way you have described it below. Christophe sean whalen wrote:
