Anyone heard the As One "Art of Prophecy" LP on Shield? Just curious if this was more along the lines of his more electronic/detroit'ish stuff like the "Reflection" LP...or is it closer to the jazz on that MoWax LP he did? I'd prefer the former to the latter, s'why I'm asking. Gracias. P.S. Check out the Beanfield "Close the Gap 1-3" on Compost if you're looking for some kind of electro-techno-breakbeat hybrid. Andrew (Cognition Audioworks) recommended this one to me, 'tis dope. The long side starts out inna techno stylee and breaks down into some funky drummer latinesque percussion, finally changes up to "Dadamnphreefunk..." style Hardfloor jam. Nice to see people making records that can encompass lots of different styles (and do it well)... ____________________________________ Brock Phillips - bphil@email.unc.edu WXYC 89.3 FM The New Science Experience Tune in every Sunday night 10-12 AM EST http://www.wxyc.org for live RA broadcast Promos, demos, etc. welcome for submission Email for postal address and details... It's not really either. It is definitely more techno/electronic, yet lacks much of the melancholy soul that Relfections has. It's a good album, if a little repetitive, but not as good as Relfections. It's also sort of eclectic, lot's of different sounds (eve a dnb track with Peshay), but for some reason tracks after tracks tends to drag on... I would say of you're a Kirk fan then get it, otherwise it's my least listened to Kirk record (Celestial Soul and In with their Arps being tied for first) peace Nate

***IDM: If you'd like to check it out, the Beanfield [and Sand 11 on Ladomat, which is in the same style] open part 3 of In The Mix show 576 on http://www.globalserve.net/~cognition Sutekh (Belief Systems CA) also used the Sand 11 in the intro for an amazing mix he sent a while back to be featured on the show/site sometime soon. Good stuff. BTW, there will be a new Beanfield album soon.
