1. my first thoughts tonite- F I N A L L Y Los Angeles IDM'er get what they need (thank you Gonzi, thank you Green Galatic) 2. my review: FUCK YEAH, WOW, and "oh this is why we call it INTELLIGENT DANCE MUSIC" Lexaunculpt, SINGLE OF THE YEAR (don't forget the POLL) dropped a few new tunes. Only one I didn't recognize, the other new ones I've heard at his pad. Anyway it was the first time I actually heard a repetitive bassline throughout an entire Lex track, pretty cool. The thing I love about going to see Lex play in public is how glued the "non" experienced people in the crowd get. I've been lucky to see Lex play a bazillion times now and each time I people watch. it's the peeps look like they "don't belong there" that are the peeps i love to watch the most cuz their eyes get all big and they start asking around "Is that guy performing music or are we all listening to a CD or something" I can't tell you how many times this has actually happened. took a break outside and came VERY close to throwing my fist thru KID606's (what a fucking stupid name) face. That would have sucked since that loser recently had jaw surgery, lucky him!!! Richie C. Divine came next and JEEEESUS Fucking maaaah god. I had NO FUCKING CLUE what to expect. I have the SCH05 since last feb cuz Romo gave me a white label. Then we hang out on Sat when Richie got into town, even still this was not enough for me to be prepared for the BRUTAL ASSAULT this homeboy created with his computer. Everyone in the tiny Oxygen bar was breathless it seemed, THAT IS WHAT A BRUTAL MOTHER FUCKER THIS GUY IS. Many mouths were dropped. Richie if you're reading, he he he, you are a psyck fuk. Send me those Snuff pix and your CD is in the mail Finally Soul Oddity came on and dropped the classic DJ TOKYO and continued with their Soul Oddity antics. Good stuff, however I believe their sampler was giving them problems cuz thru out numerous trax I noticed skips and pauses and so forth (no not part of that digital Ae wanna be style) I've seen SO b4 and I can only say this wasn't them at their best, but it was still phat like a good blunt! In between sets we were treated to some electro DJ's Two Silver Boxes. It's always good to hear them since they seem to be the ONLY fucking Electro DJ's in CA (can you belive this IDM LIST? sad eh?) Besides, 1/2 of 2sBoxes is our own Brock Suter who rarely posts to the IDM list anymore, but is one badass motherfucker anyway. He's got some funny drunk friends who love to sit naked at a busstop on Sunset Blvd.......... 3. my final thoughts: 1999 is gonna be a fucking awesome year for IDM, I just know it!!!! Shhheeeit the new schematics alone are worth getting a big boner for. Watch out katz! gilly ps: This is being cc'd to the local ravers list since some of those listers were there as well. pps: if you're up in SF, please do not miss RICHIE COLEMAN DIVINE HE WILL TEAR YOUR HEAD OFF, and he's anything like the snuff photos he's into, he'll prolly shit down your throat too!!!!!!!

<snip> this is important to the idm list because? or is it that you are hoping that your macho judgemental bullshit will make you look cool in our eyes? or is that you have seen true romance one to many times and are hoping that some girl out there will email you: "your so cool"? On the IDM tip: picked up the lesser/kid606 split cd. Well worth the price of admission (10 american dollars). Digital terror and beats to loose yourself in. Not for those who don't like noisy IDM. -daniel

Well, this is the same cat that called DJ Spooky "DJ Poopy" 'cause he didn't like the fellow's music. Oh well, I bet he/she is a "BRUTAL MOTHER F*CKER" and wants all to know how much of a "BAD*SS MOTHER F*CKER" he/she is. Happy f*cking New Year, f*lks!

no, that was me. There's more than one daniel on this list, you know. And I called him "DJ Poopy" because I think he's full of shit (get it? yuk yuk yuk). I don't particularly dislike his music, in fact I think "Songs Of A Dead Dreamer" is a good album. I just think he's full of hot air over his "innovative" style of DJ'ing, one that's been repeated by every college radio DJ who's been stoned before. And no, I'm not a badass motherfucker, although I loved that wallet from Pulp Fiction. On a legitimate note, I was really impressed by the show. Lexaunculpt's new stuff schools most of the mediocre clicking and beeping coming from the IDM scene right now with his melancholy song structure and strong melodic sense. The track he opened with is the best thing I've heard in the last year or so. Richard Devine is a fucking madman, and his set reflected it. Somehow he accomplished fucking his set to all chunky distorted hell and yet retained an inherently rhythmic and danceable set. Phoenecia's set had it's problems, but I still thought it was the shit. They recorded it to be played back on my show tonight, but accidentally swapped the minidisc with another one. 8( On the good side, I've heard some dope new shit that will be coming out next month on schematic... np: Pole live (no, I won't copy it for you) -Daniel daniel@peachfuzz.net ============================================================================== Peach Space Disco For Fish Tacos PO Box 1902 8-10pm Wednesdays, KUCI 88.9fm Huntington Beach, CA 92647 www.peachfuzz.net/space www.peachfuzz.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Coming Soon - Sterile: Orange County's Intelligent Electronic Monthly www.peachfuzz.net/sterile ============================================================================== "A lot of people just talk out of their ass, I happen to fall under that category" -Dana Watanabe

I think everyone is just jealous of SoCal IDMers for having so much shit going on. The IMPORTANT thing I have to add to this thread is that when Lex sampled METROID I just about shat in my pants. owww yeah. LA has to have something to compete with all the bomb Orange County action (Sterile 0002 on the 15th, hint hint).

he just needs to sleep more. We've had that track since july, Alex played it at the loraine release party, and both chris and I have played the fuck out of it on kuci. OC is truly the IDM capitol of the world, but for those not fortunate enough to live in the heart of fishtacodom, Alex's second release on Orange should be out really soon. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say why, but be sure to nab it immeadeatly. -Daniel daniel@peachfuzz.net ============================================================================== Peach Space Disco For Fish Tacos PO Box 1902 8-10pm Wednesdays, KUCI 88.9fm Huntington Beach, CA 92647 www.peachfuzz.net/space www.peachfuzz.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Coming Soon - Sterile: Orange County's Intelligent Electronic Monthly www.peachfuzz.net/sterile ============================================================================== "A lot of people just talk out of their ass, I happen to fall under that category" -Dana Watanabe
