word. it's about the music folks, not testing the bounds of marginal price elasticity for bonus trainspotter macho points. lego feet at $450 (secondary market) OR red planet 9 at $5.99 (submerge)??? do the math. sam walton: buy american, support our union workers.... i should have posted a full review on the aspen cd that i got a while back long before now but will do so as soon as i head back up to seattle tomorrow, but this was some decent material. in some ways, reminiscent of boc's kicked back melodies, although at time the percussion just didn't work well for me. but worth checking out for those subtle melodies, no doubt

as if record collecting never existed before mighty idm added it to its ever-fattening list of innovations.

Chris: Are you talking about Aspen's "Album" album (his second album, I think) or something else (his first album? I don't know the title)? He's also working on a new album that was initially scheduled for February, though this may have been pushed back. IDM: There's a review of his "Album" release on http://www.globalserve.net/~cognition (in the "album" reviews section ;) ) and a track from this is in one of the archived In The Mix shows. Aspen is from Wellington, New Zealand. Also some reviews/RA of material from Wellington's Obscure label there. Andrew holiday_in_ca wrote:

Hiya, "Album" was his debut, and from memory, "Aura" is a track on it. His second release (still at mastering stage) is sounding very fine, IMO, with a bit more focus on the sparse and housey techno than the first. It reminds me quite a bit of Thule stuff, although I don't think he's heard any. It's also to a lesser extent like J Burger stuff, especially with regards the space and bright sounds. We're also collaborating on a CD release, hopefully scheduled for before I go overseas in April, so I think the second Aspen CD has been postponed. Oh yeah, and I agree wholeheartedly with Andrew's review on the Cognition site. ***Yep, "Aura" is the first track. But I'm sure that "Album"is the second album from Aspen. Unless some evil force is trying to convince me of this incorrect info. :( [Later]: Hmm, I just checked and couldn't find any confirmation that it's a second album. I think I was reading "another..." as "second" when it was referring to something else :(
