Moodymann is Kenny Dixion Jr. He is from detroit and creates detroit-flavored house & techno but I don't recall him being referred to as Mr (well maybe by the young kids in his neighborhood). Moodymann does nice house & techno with a slight disco flavor at times. I haven't heard much of his work but i would recommend his recent comp CD on Planet E called "A Silent Introduction to..." It compiles many of his early 12"s on one 2x12"/cd at a domestic price. This is probably the release you're looking for. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Andres - Trues - 12" - KDJ - KDJ013 600 pieces of this platter are floating around, in the excitng series of KDJ records. Trues is a real killer, with it's very fine melodies and juicey basses. Moodymann seems somewhat to move away from 'straighter' house tracks, to more freestyle funk tracks as in the minimal Piece of Mind. Although This club song is pretty straight forward in fine dubby style. (Arnold)

not kdj, parrish or wilhite. supposedly it's a new guy. amazing arnold's review is right on the mark.

I most certainly do and for those unfamiliar with him try picking up his "A Silent Introduction..." album on Planet E for a taste of some of the most accessible house out there. I actually wasn't into house at all until i heard this record a few months ago. my jaw dropped upon the first listen. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Although it probably could be classified under house, Mahogany Brown (Peace Frog Records) is some of the most intelligent "housey" (sp?) stuff I've heard in a while. Running parallel on the intelligent housey tip would be Morgan Geist. Any other opinions of Moody Man's Mahogany Brown release? Big shout to Detroit... funny because Detroit was kind of tore up last time I was there. david (who is dreaming of a Richie Hawtin DJ Kicks) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

I liked that record but not as much as his previous album - A Silent Introduction to... album on the Planet E label. Also if you like that sound then you'll also want to check out the Theo Parrish First Floor vols 1&2 2x12"s/ cd on the Peacefrog label. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

David: re: Hawtin: he did a mix CD for the Mixmag series a couple of years ago that is still easy to find. re: Moodymann; real name: Kenny Dixon Jr. operates his own KDJ label, has a compilation of his KDJ stuff on Planet E that should be easy to get called "A Silent Introduction"; if you like this, you should also check the recent Theo Parrish albums on Peace Frog. Hope this helps. Andrew
