Goldie's ideas are grossly grandoise and often plain looney (David Toop is supposed to have described "Adrift" as "Luther Vandross on acid") but some of it really connects. I think that is mostly because of Rob Playford, who really is a wizard. The programming and production work on "Timeless" are tight.

This is such baloney. "Song writing" and muso pretensions have turned d 'n' b into sort of joke. I'm listening to Goldie's "Timeless" right now and while I am enjoying the hell out of it, I can't go for long without grimacing or laughing at some of its bizarre indulgences; divas, synth wash, jazzy keys and Pat Metheny guitar solos jammed against Apache breaks! What in the hell? Just the idea of "Saturnz Return" sends shivers up my spine. And I'm certainly waiting for some Optical party tunes to come out ;-) OPTICAL SAID:

Speaking of DJ Krust, check out his new remix of Bjork's Alarm Call. This is totally slamming. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com
