If you enjoyed Squarepusher's newest album, then I have got a cd for you. It's by this jazz trio called Medeski, Martin, and Wood (www.mmw.net) and their cd kicks ass. I read about them in CMJ earlier this year and didn't really think much of it, and then there was this write up on them in the new Rolling Stone that got me interested. One of my friends likes them a lot, but he also worships Phish and the Grateful Dead so I was a little hesitant. Anyways, I picked it up today and I'm very impressed. They have a keyboardist, bass player, drummer, and dj who are pretty well known for their improvisational skills. The music isn't as "in your face" as the new Squarepusher album, but it has a similar feel to it. So in conclusion, if you want some more idmish type jazz, pick up this cd, "Combustication." --kenneth starman ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. MMW have ben around quite a while. Never thought of them as IDM-ish at all, but rather than SQP gets jazz-ish; in fact, it's easy to see correlation between some forms of jazz and IDM. To me, it's just a matter of priority (as in logical, not hierarchical). Whatever. I've long been a fan of them, though. jeff noze_brotherhood@juno.com wrote:
