I have Grado SR-80's and love them to death. I think Kent Williams on this list will tell you the same thing. They are hands down the best headphones I have ever used. In fact I have persuaded a few friends to buy them as well and they thank me all the time for recommending them... hope that helps... check headphone.com for more info. If you do the whole CD/MD portable thing, you may be better off with the SR_60's... nate On Tue, 4 Apr 2000, mattis wrote:

the SONY line of "Digital Reference" headphones are rather spectacular, and range from $30 US all the way up to $700! The latter of which being a set constructed from super-resonant plastic casing.... and get this.... Biologically GROWN diaphragms!! I am using a set of MDR-CD570's right now - retail for about $100 US, and have absolutely NO complaints about them. Can wear the suckers all day and not ever get the 'head-pings'! They sound terrific too... I've been picking up on subtleties that I never thought existed! -Gropo 209.6.182.146 http://www.gropo.com MP3 RadioCast: http://216.32.166.75:8774 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yea- I write all of my songs using the MDR-V900's right now and I love them.. I had the 600's before I got the 900's and they were great too... I definitely recommend these headphones. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@cyrus.net http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly [CELL|(888)522.3830] | [CELL|(701)729.1631] | [HOME|(612)676.1817] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

my personal favorite is the sony MDR-F1. i spent several trips to a local hi-end audio store to A-B them against the other sony models as well as koss, steinheiser, and a number others. they are open aired and look a lot like broadcast headphones from era's gone by. i can't find them on sony's website, and i believe they may be being discontinued and are a bit pricy, but they are amazing true reference headphones (unlike the sony's 7506 or the 600 which colour the sound a lot, esp on the low end.) the only other ones that i found close where the higher end steinheisers. i sat on the fence for a while about which i liked better; the sony's seemed to be a better reference - important for the studio - and the steinheiser was a bit better for simply listening to music with your cd player or whatnot. this was in large part due to the design of the headphones rather then the sound. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

While talking about headphones, is there anyone who knows some closed or sealed phones that can be used both for reference and DJ purposes? Not too pricey, I can give $100 but not much more... /JOHAN --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
