I haven't heard any reviews yet of the split 12" on Fat Cat with Pan American (ie Mark Nelson of Labradford) and some other artist (sorry, forgot his name). Anyone have any comments?? Managed to catch Pan American at the Empty Bottle in Chicago a few months ago. Thinking he was going to be the headliner and not the opener, I only heard one track. But man was it good. Anyway, any reviews appreciated. -Mike

I think you're talking about the Pan American/Janek Schaeffer split 12". I don't believe it's out yet but i'm eagerly awaiting it. I really enjoyed the self-titled Pan American LP i got earlier this year. Deep droning post-rock atmospherics. Good stuff. But two FatCat records coming out this week that i'm really hot for are: the Transient Waves: Born With A Body And Fucked In The Head ep (Labradford/Bowery Electric-type stuff with remixes by Two Lone Swordsmen and Stasis) plus the Various Artists remix ep which features mixes by Autechre, Monolake, Funkstorung & Pole. Full reviews of both later this week. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

the pan american track 'both ends fixed' on the fatcat twelve is a fine long (11:21) piece of smooth breaks and gentle sounds, somewhat minimalistic, monotone, but instead of most, warm and smooth. the 5 Janek cuts bring experimental noise things. cheers ____________________________________ forcefield | mindless entertainment http://www.sonik.demon.nl/forcefield
