Its true. The Criminal Justice and Public Order Act. Specifically loud, outdoor music events featuring "music consisting wholly or in part of a succession of repetitive beats" Designed to outlaw large outdoor raves, which were scaring the squires in the shires at the time. Search for Castlemorton for info on the 5+ day illegal free party/TAZ featuring an unholy alliance of travellers, squatters, ravers, dealers, anarchists and other assorted oddballs which really put the fear of God into the Conservative government of the time. Also witness Autechre's "Flutter" whose beats never repeat. A protest. CheersAndrewC.

Yes, indeed - I have the Anti EP with that little blurb on it.

Hmmm, yes, I can imagine... Does this law still hold good? Has it (ever / frequently) been applied? How does it get proven or measured? How many beats must be repeated before it becomes illegal? Totally Spinal Tap-ish concept, isn't it? Sheesh !!! The mind boggles. This is more oppressive that what I'm used to living with in South Africa {!} I * np : Facts & Fictions / Asian Dub Foundation --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
