Oh yeah, hilarious. Now, I don't mind the odd joke or two, but this one was just a bit badly timed. As soon as Skam decide to release new vinyl from Jega, Gescom and Mask3, we see a message in the same newsgroup suggesting that Mask1 and Mask2 are being re-issued. It's not surprising that some people are going to believe your 'joke'. I've ordered my new Skam vinyl, but at the same time I asked my supplier to try and get hold of the (non-existant) Mask reissues. Now they're probably wasting time, making phone calls, trying to acquire stuff that doesn't exist. At the end of the day, it's no big deal, but you've got to realise that when there's absolutely nothing to differentiate between your wind-up and a genuine piece of news, you're doing something wrong. The best wind-ups always have some sort of accompanying clue, no matter how cryptic. The majority of people on this list don't know one another -- we're all pretty much anonymous. In the past, we've relied on anonymous people to supply us with genuine news. If you're going to start a trend of anonymous people posting up wind-ups, then don't be surprised if you're then subsequently regarded as an infantile troll. I've nothing against you -- your wind up didn't do me any damage, but just consider the possibility that some people *will* take notices such as yours at face value. /\/)ark

It must be pretty boring to be so fucking superiour all the time. Of course there's more to life than limited edition vinyl, i don't need axioms thrown in my face, and don't be so fucking ignorant and arrogant and clever and funny and demeaning all the time. I personally don't need these titles, it's just that a lot of other people do, and I hate to see someone spending up to $400 for a 12", like with mask 1. btw, skam isn't releasing new jega, it's new bola.... But that's not the thing I'm posting this shit-message to idm The thing is that our list-owner felt asleep. ARAN ! Wake up ! And stop em' please ! They've just finnished with Warp/Ae Copyrights shit and now Mask3... People I am really sick (terrible flu, over 38 degrees, fever....I can hardly read all those messages) and if you got some complaints about Mark's jokes please contact him in private. I'm not sure why people are getting so worked-up about the MASK re-release joke. Yes I'd be upset too if I spent hours trying to track them down in vain, but the level of vitriol in some of the messages seems excessive. I realize it's not quite the same thing, but surely we've had these made-you-look cases before, with the Caustic Window comp and others. Having listened to the MASK 1 and 2, I want to say: they're ok but not mindblowing. I think it's the kind of music that sounds better and better if you keep thinking about how incredibly rare it is while listening to it. You know, you get that warm and fuzzy feeling knowing you are hot shit who owns incredibly rare records, and knowing you can impress millions by writing to IDM to drop names of those records ever so casually. ^_^ BTW I don't have the MASKs, so please don't ask me to sell them. I'd like to add that I, too, would most appreciate any help getting a copy of this record, buy one from someone, any such thing. Sigh... Why is the whole limited edition thing getting so out of hand that fans, even if they're really into the music & are really on top of getting the new releases, can't even get some music they want to get? Kisses to those who help me out, & CDRs of rare, probably desirable stuff, if that helps encourage anyone. Marc Poirier
