Now we know where Tom J. gets his song titles... A portly British railway manager known as "The Fat Controller" has admitted stealing enough locomotives, wagons, and carriages to start his own private railway. Barry Daly, who gained his nickname from the "Thomas the Tank Engine" children's books, perpetrated an elaborate fraud to steal four locomotives, nine coaches, and 30 wagons. He planned to sell the equipment, but never delivered to his clients. http://www.wired.com/news/news/email/explode-infobeat/story/16002.html Che

I'm almost 100% positive that this is not the reference. I believe that the train thief also borrowed the name from Mr. Self. "The Fat Controller" is one of the protagonists of the excellent novel "My Idea of Fun" by Will Self. "The Fat Controller" is basically some sort of demonic being who is very fat, very well dressed and has an extremely large vocabulary. He teaches the main character about the finer points of eidesis (an extreme form of photographic memory) and witchcraft. After listening to the song, the music sort of fits the character, but needs to be a little more robust and squelchy, perhaps a little more classy as well. Although Mr. Broadhurst did have a pretty violent temper... I would heartily recommend any of Will Self's books over almost any record I've heard lately (except for maybe "Wave Twisters"). Jonathan

If Will Self didn't get that name from Thomas the Tank Engine as well I'll, I dunno, I'll sell my Clear collection. TTE has been around for like 70 years, and is 9 million times better known in England than Will Self. Another topic - anyone had dealings with Forced Exposure? Whats the service been like? I've been emailing them for weeks, can't get a word out of them... Very disappointing - their catalogue is fabulous. Cheerio Andrew C.

I'm presuming it's a small operation, and wonder if they put precedence on people who've actually made an order - or have you? They have an automatic receipt of order, then send a second email when the order has been sent. Michael np. I had never made an order before and they were very quick. I also know that they are a distributor. I know of at least one record store in town who get his stock from them. -daniel

Yeah, sorry, I was meaning placed an order at all - if the original poster was just making enquiries, maybe they'd put that at a lower priority than someone ordering shit. Anyway, yeah, I've never had any problems with them. Michael np. 'Vulvic Yonification' - Vulva. I picked this up cheap second-hand, thinking it couldn't be too much money wasted, but I'm not too sure about it. On first listen I really like about a third. ____________________________________________ "Also, he has automatic evasion devices" http://www.vuw.ac.nz/~michael/jj.html
