here are a few initial comments on some records/cds i just picked up. havnt really given any of them a solid listen, but i was quite impressed with what i heard (some of the descriptions are lifted from the s://kimo mail order information). im sure somehow most of these will be on my radio show (kuci 88.9fm, kuci.org, wednesday 7-8pm) this week if youre curious. *VA: Blip, Bleep (Soundtracks to Imaginary Videogames) CD (LUCKY KITCHEN.003). $11.50 Features contributions from: Nick Birmingham & Daniel Beattie, V/VM, Soundcard, Colongib, Egghatcher, Jake Mandell, Personal Electronics, Tim Kotch, Marumari, Reckankreuzungs Klankewerkzeuge & Company, Flexible Products, Aerospace, Flatline Racing System, Stupid Lepton, Wheaton Research, Suetsu & Underwood, Underwood. this cd is so much fun! it will go so well with the Mario Paint release, Perrey and Kingsley, that Rephlex release from the guy who does the Boredoms electronics (forget his name -- but its FUN!), the Lexaunculpt cover of the Metroid theme song (hopefully out in the not too distant future? :), and maybe even Land of the Loops or Le Tone (Mad Professor mix) or Volume All Stars.. basically, each track has a brief and odd desription of the video game that the song is supposed to be for.. video game programmers out there should really hook up with these artists. that would be fucking sick! also, this is the first release i have heard from the Lucky Kitchen folks.. quite impressed. hopefully i'll hear 1 and 2 sometime soon. *GESCOM: 12" THAT (Skam) Whatever (Tara remix) Self Impersonation (Pharoid remix) Chunge (Gescom remix) A57 (DC Duos remix) i really, really like this. nothing too different from what i expected, but somehow it just hit me in the right spot. im sure folks will comment on this like mad, so thats all im saying :) i like it! *TORTOISE/AUTECHRE: Remix 12" (THRILL JOCKEY) much better than the skinny puppy remix. actually, its quite nice. mellow, basically beatless stuff. *DJ HELL: Munich Machine 2LP (DISKO B) i really like the Suicide Commandos 12" that Hell just put out (especially the i-f/overdose remix), so i picked up the full length. its pretty cool, and the track "dominatrix" really fits well with my recent post industrial/electro mood. this thing is pretty diverse though, and damn silly at points.. listen first. thats all! chris.

<snip> Yeah, I have to agree. This release is excellent. Fun and abstract. Gilly: Don't get it, you won't like it... ;) Also: Dred / Green _Virtual Farmer_: I am on my second listen (this time at high volume) and it is blowing me away. Many layers, beats, pieces of people talking. Nice experementation. Gilly: you wouldn't like this one either... --hh -/\= Hess M. Hodge ~/\ hess.hodge@colorado.edu (/\) http://rtt.colorado.edu/~hodge

this is quite good, though i still have yet to figure out if all the tracks were previously released in the Machine Code series. i know for sure a few of them were. the particles song ("you might think of particles") is entirely fucked up though. i love it! anyone wish to part with the machine codes box set? (vinyl) i *really* like the mike dred and peter green stuff. also, whats mike dred like live? anyone know/seen him? chris.
