Re: recent complaints about fs lists I'm the guilty party with the aforementioned Air Liquide release. In defense, I hadn't posted that list to idm in a couple months (hardly last week), and a lot of the stuff had never been posted before. Sincere apologies if you honestly feel lists like these are cluttering up your inbox. But I only post ft lists to idm because it has immensely more people subscribed than whitezone (for selling/trading only) and I always get a better response when I post to both. Admittedly selfish, but it seems to be of more use than a lot of the pedantic bickering/insults crowding the list as of late. As it is, I never post the same list more than once every couple months. Sorry for wasting even more bandwidth on this post, I just have to say that I'd still rather see a fs list on idm than a petty retort to an off-topic post anyday...Brock ____________________________________ Brock Phillips - bphil@email.unc.edu WXYC 89.3 FM The New Science Experience Tune in every Sunday night 10-12 AM EST http://www.wxyc.org for live RA broadcast Promos, demos, etc. welcome for submission Email for postal address and details... Hey Brock....you're not the only one with Air Liquide to sell (even though I haven't posted any 'cept "Live in New York" - and that only on my last list - for ages). Anyway, I hesitated to say anything because I am prone to posting/crossposting fs lists when I need a few $ myself (as has been the case lately ;-\), but I only started this late Spring in doing so. I gotta say that I look forward to reading sale lists and they are a big part of why I enjoy IDM/Ambient/313 and the like. Before anyone points me to Whitezone, I've been there for ages and love it, too - but not everyone who posts posts there and I want a crack at whatever is up for grabs. Not to be insensitive to people who dislike the lists, but there is the delete button. As long as people stick to the basic rules (which I believe Teep laid down) on sale lists, I really don't see a problem. I've picked up a LOT of really ace material via the music lists for which I otherwise would still be scrounging used bins or begging uninterested sales clerks to order. I'm happy when I see 'em, regardless of how many AL repeats I see. And I still have a copy of "Live in New York", if anyone's interested :^D> jeff Brock Phillips wrote:

He did lay them down and here they are: Subject: (idm) I REPEAT Auctions should be posted once to attract bidders, then be conducted in private thereafter. Any other classifieds, including long sale lists, should be announced as briefly as possible, with an invitation for interested parties to email you directly or visit a web location to receive the full information. I don't want to step on Aran's toes but my interpretation of this is no sale lists on idm, period. (That's lists as opposed to "I have this particular item for sale.") I guess it depends on your definition of "long." C. -- Chris.Hilker (cspot@hyperreal.org)

If my memory serves me, that isn't quite a direct quote, unless possibly there was an amendation made to it later. I distinctly recall him giving a rough guideline of a proper sale list length (because I counted the lines of mine afterwards to make sure) of 25 lines and adding something about not posting the exact same items for sale repeatedly. Not to be contentious, but it's hard to get to "no sale lists, period" with qualifications like that. Can I get a witness? Anyone heard the new Matthew Thomas? jeff Chris.Hilker wrote:
