Here's another of my world famous dumb assed questions - does anybody know a way to capture a real audio file so you can listen to it over and over again? I've succeeded on some occassions but not on others but I can't figure out why?!? BABY DIDDY ___________________________________________ "Stupid dance music"

Hmm, good point. The RA player doesn't have a SAVE option in its file menu (guess you've noticed) - the only way to save stuff, it seems, is if you *download* an entire RA file into your H/drive before playing it back. If it comes in as streaming audio, no go. Although I've heard (haven't tried) that the new version WinAmp player also plays back RA's (anybody??) and if you right-mouse- button click you can save the file. This however I cannot vouch for. Yes, it _is_ frustrating not to be able to pirate stuff, eh ?! I * np : Bedouin Ascent - Music for Particles

Well, I wouldn't know about that, but purely as a theoretical point, there are versions of the RA player *around* which purport to allow the saving of more files than are strictly intended by those who put them up. I'm presuming you're running Windows so this doesn't really apply to you but there is a Linux kernel module someone's written which captures any and all digital audio output on your PC, with obvious implications. The Sqpr album is ace, what ever you all say. The Ae remixes of Tortoise are well strange. adam

Normally, you're not linked to the RA-file itself but just to a textfile (extnsion is always *.ram), which contains the location of the file, so the player knows where to connect. If you got a direct link to the RA-file (*.ra or *.rm) you can download them dircetly. If there's a *ram file, you can open it in a texteditor an try to dircetly connect to the location. But be warned - often these locations are not open for 'normal' access, but the RA-player knows how to handle this.
