I don't know if this is an old subject I missed out on or not, But after listening to locusts the amazing "truth is born of arguments" back to back with the amazing but definitely different "mourning light, I can't help but wonder how many IDM'ers out there were accepting of the change in direction. It seems like the locals in my town were very against it but I was curious on a global level. anyone feel locust is dead? admittedly his track on the depeche mode tribute album (listened to in store, btw. didn't/wouldn't pay money for)is dodgy as fuck. NP: mark van hoen- last flowers from the darkness (on touch) , sounds like it could be the outtakes to truth is born of arguments or at least from the same time period.

morning light was absolutely brilliant. one of my favorite albums of that year by far. I had read reviews before hearing the cd but I checked it out anyway and was blown away. his production on compositions were brilliant and were a standard that every band or group should follow. The reviews of Mourning Light suggested he'd gone 'pop', so I didn't go hunting for it.. Weathered Well is pretty good - I've got an amazing Peel session from around that time too.. much better than Weathered Well actually! Have CD-R, will trade if anyone's interested...

The entire musical backing for this song is just a sample of a Serge Gainsbourg song, looped, with a synth thing on top. Course, Mr. Vibert does the same thing on one track on Big Soup but at least he uses lots of samples from different songs and changes them around. Even the style of the vocals on 'Master and Servant' is copied from the Gainsbourg song. It's one of the most obvious rip-offs I've ever heard of one of Gainsbourg's songs. I've got nothing against Mr. Van Hoen in general, but I was kind of annoyed by the plagarism on this track. -David

I wasn't too impressed with this album. In fact, compared to the two other cds I have by Locust i would say this is damn disappointing, but I kind of expected it wouldn't be that good. All the tracks have vocals on them, and there wasn't anything that exciting going on with the music. I suppose it has a decent chance for Pop success. == So. i agree i love this album. by the way it was reissued recently with a new track. i wondering if this so-called new track was the bonus track on the original limited digi-pack version. also i've got a copy of the original jewel case version for sale if anyone wants it. it's still sealed.
