The culprit will remain unnamed (hey, a new concept: ethics & courtesy on IDM), but I couldn't resist using this as a perfect example of the recent degeneration of the list. In response to one of several flagrantly off-topic spams today, I wrote to the sender, "Please don't send crap like that to the IDM list. We don't care." And so here was his/her response to me:
