Now I understand why there's been such a great buzz about these guys. "The Quest" is a 2CD collection on Submerge (http://www.submerge.com/), with 16 tracks on the first and 12 on the second CD. It's a very solid batch of buzzing, beeping electro mini-masterpieces. Only a few tracks on the first CD fall short of excellent, and maybe just a couple on the second, if any. Sounds like Kraftwerk in a funhouse mirror if they'd been taking their funky pills. It's nothing too elaborate. The arrangements are not complex, and most tracks have just 3 or 4 monophonic lines against a heavily-filtered 808, but the sounds are nicely experimental and the beats are infectiously propulsive. Not only that, these guys live underwater, or something. In case it helps, the tracks come from UR-026, UR-030, UR-037, SW-1007, S.I.D.-005, SVE-3, SVE-6 and a few were previously unreleased. O.K., I'll tell you. In return, I'd like a Synclavier. Alright, a Moog. O.K., then, how about a Theremin? A pocket Theremin? A pocket radio? A Mexican jumping bean? So: Apotheosis. See : X-Static Radikal Tekno volume 4. The Apotheosis cut, in response to threatened legal action, underwent only a name change, rather than a track change. Tricky tricky. Enjoy, if you can... 3

The name of the band is "Apotheosis" It is early 90's commercial techno in the stlye of "Quadrophenia" and "James Brown is Dead" a Friend of mine had the single on CD, but it was stolen. Otherwise I'd give you the label. Pretty good tune for the time, I still hear it at clubs in LI, New York. -------------Izzo.

I even know where there is a sealed copy floating around of this 12, and all this talk is making me wonder why I dont get it (other than the song sucks) . for the right price I might even drive over and get it. ernie Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-1156 Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems Fort Worth, Texas

Godzilla is awake. We decided that Comet or Ajax cleanser, scrubbed into the grooves gently with fine steel wool is the best way to take care of vinyl. Cartridges and styli are best cleaned with maple syrup on a wire brush. Hmm, maybe y'all can help me out. I was at a rave this noontime, and heard an excellent track called "O Fortuna". Where, oh where can I find this beautiful song on CD? Really, though, Mike P.'s Spatula Freak CD has stood the test of time. Mr. Gil gil@L0PHT.COM (L-zero-P-H-T) No authority is self-justified. Maybe you're talking about O Fortuna, the opening of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana? Then again, maybe you're talking about something completely different. I *

No, I suspect our forlorn soul is seeking the techno hack of said Orff piece. It's out of print, deleted, all copies ordered shot and burned, due to copyright infringement. However, I do know where you can find the track. For the right price, I might even tell... Evilly, 3
