i'm looking to buy a CD-R drive in the next few months. i don't have a whole lot of money, so price is a big factor. mostly what i'd be using it for is burning my songs onto audio CD (most of them are in .mp3 format now...) and i may at some time do some digital audio extraction, so that option would be nice. please email me your good experiences or suggestions... thanks, j.

I have aYamaha crw4260tx. I suggest a few things....first, here's a good FAQ http://www.scsi.com.au/technical/cdr/andy_mcfadden_cdr_faq.htm second, you may wish to subscribe to something like the Adaptec CDR user's list or possibly go through the list archives. You'll find a lot of threads like "Which ___ shoud I buy?" http://www.adaptec.com/support/cdrlist/instructions.html#TO subscribe This list isn't simply about adaptec products and is frequented by people using all manner of hard/software. A lot of these URLs are assciated with adaptec stuff; one of the programs I use is EZCDCD, but I'm not trying to sell you on it. I just happened to have a lot of these bookmarked. Sonic Foundry makes some really nice burnware (CD Architect) as does Goldenhawk (CRWin). A lot of other apps (Wavelab, e.g.) will also run cd-rs. I'm no geek by any definition, but I'll help if I can. Here are some generally niceURLs : http://www.enteract.com/~pcrowley/cdrdiag.html http://www.adaptec.com/support/cdrlist/links.html http://resource.simplenet.com/primer/firstbrn.htm http://www.adaptec.com/support/faqs/cdrhowtoindex.html http://resource.simplenet.com/files/files.htm http://resource.simplenet.com/ Good Luck. jeff j. miskiewicz wrote:
