I tried to translate aless' last paragraph into Queen's English and failed:
quoted 8 lines My friends boyfriend Ja Tin (he plays Tablas with 'Outcaste' and is well> My friends boyfriend Ja Tin (he plays Tablas with 'Outcaste' and is well > into his Drum'n'Bass), has just come back from LA and was tellin us all > these stories about it last night ... and he was tellin' us that he caught > Fabio & Groove there, but he said it was dead funny cos errrr, how to say > this gently? cos I'm a nice polite English girl, well ... erm, lets just > say he said the LAers all danced in a VERRRRRY different styleee from da > London one! And that all the blokes were wearing shorts and towelling > socks! tee hee! :)
Now let me get this straight, aless: It's "dead funny" that people 6,000 miles away dance differently from people in London? Viva la difference ... It's "dead funny" that we wear shorts here? (In case you need a refresher course, it's a WEE bit warmer here in the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DESERT than it is back in ol' Blighty, usually. Not to mention the fact that the Viper Room, where Grooverider and Fabio spun, is a small, hot sweat pit venue.) And Lord knows what "towelling socks" are ... (terry cloth???) Don't get me wrong, aless, I get a kick out of your (obviously enthusiastic) reviews. But if there's a joke here I just don't get it. Maybe because I'm a nice polite towelling-sock-and-shorts-wearing strange-dancing LA'er. :D (And if we're going to slag clothing, my GOD what got into Photek and J. Majik? Now listen here boys, this English unpressed black suits look has just GOT to go. And Rupert, your shoes are the biggest fashion monstrosity this side of Jimmy Page's "Song Remains The Same" black and white flats. Get sorted!) - Greg

ohhhh flippin eck, I just KNEW that I was gonna get roasted for dis one! Twas HIS opinion, NOT mine! I've never been to the West Coast, only the East and he wasn't dissin the LAers, he was ravin bout his time there, just sayin that it was funny the little differences from over here! and I just love anyone who's up for it, who's deep in there on the dancefloor, WHATEVER their dancin styleee is! Its just that he did this little imitation for us and it was dead funny!

ohhh no man, you're taking this all WAAAAAAAAY too seriously, taking it totally the wrong way ... no it was reeeally funny to me, cos of the "towellin socks" bit cos well, those socks have this well funny naff connotations over here ... and when he told me bout all the blokes wearing shorts and towelling socks, well... I was just imaginin the Brit version, if suddenly all the blokes at the Ninjas and down Rephresh were suddenly all sportin shorts and those socks, all these white, skinny, knobbly English blokes legs on display, and i got the seeerious giggles visualising it ... ohhh flippin eckers, what have I started now, right I'm not gonna log on till Christmas now cos you're all gonna be shouting at me, HELP! Humph! The amount of info and stuff I've posted up here recently too, don't why I blinkin bother! :( aless
